Has anyone had a muffler shop....

Has anyone had a muffler shop create a good set of axle back mufflers? The prices of axle back setups are pretty high, anywhere from $400.00 to $700.00 plus dollars. I thought about talking to my local private owned muffler shop to see if he could cut the pipes off of my stock mufflers and weld them up to a nice set of turbo mufflers, plus the pieces that slide into the rubber mounts, and then the tips for less.

Anyone go this route? Was it less?

The stock mufflers are a good set of turbo mufflers.

But to answer the question, yes, what you describe has been done often.

But you have to either modify the mufflers, or modify the pipes where they connect to the mufflers, right? It's only 1/4 of an inch (if memory serves), so it's fairly easy to neck the pipe up to the correct diameter. It shouldn't cost more than $100 to have a muffler shop change your pipes to accept the V8 mufflers. Someone on allfordmustangs has already done this on a V6.

I got my flowmaster outlaws for $300 shipped by searching the web for the part number.....a custom install would most likely be at least that cost....and it wouldn't be stainless

gt500 axle back and have the resonators cut out is the best sound out there for the money. $350-400 complete job. Best bang for your buck there is. No drone and deep loud tone which isn't close to obnoxious.

They are loud, and I like loud, already been pulled for them. I might add an o/r x in the future and it'll be too much...lol

Kinda weird, but you put in your email and a offer, they reply with a counter offer, then you add a discount code..... Looks like the base price has gone up a bit.
