Has anybody else considered cancelling their order, and buying a dealer car?

I hope you've thought through how you'll feel when you see someone else driving your car. I know it would bother me... the one that got away and all that...

So if you don't need room for more than two- go out and buy a C5. There are screaming deals on C5 Z06 models.

We're talking about cars, right?

I told the dealer to call me if it came in. If I don't already have one, I'll take it.

And as fate would have it, my car moved from Ramp 51 to Ramp 5P while I was talking to the dealer and getting my deposit back. Only he didn't know it. A nice woman from Ford CS called me at 5:00 (as SHE promised she would) and gave me the news. It was really a bittersweet day. So there's a strong chance the car will be delivered next week.

Kind of a gamble isn't it? Alot of dealers will try to sell it for more once they have it in stock.

If that happens, Paul, it happens. I'm not THAT attached to this "problem" car. Or any car for that matter. But my sales guy said he'd call me. The only way I wouldn't buy the car is if I find a car actually for sale somewhere that I can make a deal on it.

I know that any NEW order I place will likely take another 4-6 weeks. I'm OK with that. I had specific goals in mind when I ordered this one and now that it's been sitting around for this long and those goals are almost nullified, I won't lose sleep if it goes away. Might even wait for 2012.

But I will tell you this... I won't ever sign a piece of paper for an ordered car that doesn't have a drop-dead delivery date (that's fair to both the dealer and me -- say 10 weeks.) After that, I get my deposit back no questions asked. Although I have to say it was easier than I expected and the GSM was actually very nice to talk to.

So, do you think your dealer will agree to the same deal you had worked before you got your deposit back?

You might still get your car before mine.

I'm guessing it moved today? You think they can get it to 5P to your place within a week?

Thanks for the response to my PM.
Did someone call?

Any who, on the topic of the thread: I'm a financial analyst. That part of me is already upset with myself for buying a brand new car. I'm out at least 10k the moment I drive that car off the lot. To pay about another 5k to cancel my order isn't the most savvy move. So I'm keeping my order

Argh! Why did I test drive that car

It's funny, the Ford dealer up the street from the Chevy dealer (New Holland, PA) had a candy red GT (Window Sticker) that was built a week before mine...
Last update from JonnyB was the same minus the ETA showing at the end...

The OP was just asking a question RE: who has considered changing their order. No big deal.

Please remember the need to vent one's frustrations. Mine was ordered in January, built May 6, and has passed several ETAs. DON'T YELL AT SOMEONE WHO IS VENTING. It will only escalate the frustration and then we get into a lot of bickering.
