The truth is the truth, my situation is not relevant to the points I made.
I dont pretend to be treated like a general consumer in this situatation.
I am adding a bit of reality to a thread that is charged with emotion.

This is a huge purchase that is highly emotional for the consumer, and these holds are seriously messing with the consumers hearts, its hard to take and I dont blame them for being upset even 1%.

HOWEVER, the reality of the situation is making cars is an INSANLY complex task filled with challenges that can only be planned for to a point, some things dont show their ugly head until you actually do it.

One poster is very upset with Ford not telling them exactly why his/her car is delayed, I explained why they can not tell you the exact reasons (Of which I am informed of and totally understand why Ford isnt saying because they are issues that will not impact the cusotmer when they get the finished product and people would blow outta proportion and they would get a bad rep for no good reason).

I am bringing a dose of reality to a highly charged thread. I undertand that since I already have my car and that I am "an insider" i will draw fire. However the points I make are still 100% valid.

Wait it out guys, when you get your car you will forgive Ford 100% I promise you. Take comfort that a group of HIGHLY talented engineers/problem solvers are going to deliver you with the highest quality pony car money car buy. Give them some slack to do their job.

Actually, i don't see your logic at least in this thread. No one seems to be blaming Ford or threatening to jump ship to GM. Can you blame us for wanting a 2011 Mustang? The thread is not about canceling orders for good but replacing retail orders for stock units that are widely available on lots already.

Shaun, my opinion doesn't really matter as I don't have a car on order and I'm realy nobody important/special on this forum. You're a cool guy and your car is ...but I gotta see where these guys are coming from. Yes, nothing is set in stone and an ETA is just that, estimated. This thread is about wondering if other people are considering 'settling' for an off the lot car, rather than waiting in the dark any longer. Yeah it would be kind of a waste to wait that long on a car that was exactly what you wanted, but I'm sure a lot of people on here could give or take a few options to get ANY car RIGHT now without waiting any longer.

If I ordered a car, and could find 90-100% of what I wanted on the lot, and would be given the same deal, you bet your *** I would go for it. And I'll be kicking myself for a LONG time for not picking up a 2010 GT that I had my eye on that was 98% of what I wanted. If I had gotten that car when I had the chance, my life LITERALLY would be completely different right now. If you don't know me or my situation I'm not going to go into it now, but if you guys can find something that will satisfy you, hell yeah get it asap. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed to anyone.

It pains me to think that someone would do that though, why not get exactly what you want?
Just spare some patience for those busting their *** to get you your car!??!!??!!??!?!
Dont sacrifice!

ps did you get my PM?

Ok i just re-read my posts, I came off like a *****. I am sorry.
I get a bit defensive about FoMoCo due to family/friend ties

Here is the best piece of advice I can offer to those in this thread.

Dont sacrifice, wait it out get exactly what you want. Its worth the wait.
Just spare some patience for those busting their *** to get you your car!

i dont plan on getting one anytime soon (dont have money tree) but do have question...

-why would you cancel order just because your car is not in yet? im sure it's not like ford is secertly holding cars back...would you want cars with possible issues sent to you?

-if ford is having issues with these new cars, dont you think that ones on dealers lot would also have problems? wouldn't it be better to be patient and have ford work things out?

maybe it's the ford shareholder in me,but im glad alan is taking his time with bringing out these new mustangs, and addressing any posssible issues before sending them out...remember bad old days when u.s. auto makers send out cars no matter what...

Long story short. If I had gotten the 2010 GT I was looking at, and didn't decide to wait and see how the 2011s would pan out, I would have definitely been satisfied with my purchase, I most likely wouldn't have gotten a DUI, and I'd probably still have my job. Funny how buying a $40k car could change my life that much, but that's why I say you never know. If I had a brand new $40k Mustang, my dream car-V8, MT, loaded-I wouldn't have been so careless and I would have worked even harder than I was to pay for it. I was dumb, got greedy with hp ratings, and decided to 'wait it out.'

Now, that is a completely different scenario than all of you guys. However, the principle is the same. You never know what tomorrow holds. IF you could be genuinely satisfied getting a car that wasn't 100% what you ordered, go for it. It's not like Ford has put out a bad product. And sheesh, you can at least LOOK around. Who knows, some dealer MAY actually have the exact option combo you want, and it may have not been sitting at Ramp 51 for 2 months!

Easy for you to say!

I'm a little shocked you even feel that way considering Dave Pericak lied right to your face about the hold(s).

The people willing to wait are largely those who already have their cars or don't have one on order OR have orders processing normally.

So I'm glad you got your car and you had your special day at Flat Rock and your mom got her car too. But there are still those of us who had PLANS this summer that included our cars. I'll say it again. . .

You can't sell the car on emotion and not expect those emotions to come into play when the cars simply sit for months in the parking lot at AAI with no expected delivery dates.

So call your buddy Dave since you're on such great terms or your "contact" at Flat Rock and help us out instead of whining and telling us we're all unreasonable for wanting something many of us WERE promised by a certain date -- not necessarily by FORD by buy the dealers.

Ever had problems at your work? Yeah I thought so.

When you operate on a scale like this small problems become big ones in 2 seconds and it takes DAYS/weeks to fix and thats after you know whats the best fix is!!!!!

In todays modern age of social media etc you cant tell the public every little problem that the car has or you will be labeled as crap car maker in 36 hours.

NO WHERE did you sign a contract with Ford Motor Company with a promised delievery date on it.

Does it suck that the cars have been very delayed? yes.

Is the wait unacceptable? far from it.

Some reasonable people will wait months-years for their cars to make it to them and they have MSRP's that range from 50K-1m+

Because there's no scheduled "in" date and no explanation for why and no movement at AAI.

They may or may not. It certainly isn't stopping Ford from shipping them out now. Build to delivery is a couple of weeks now. Not months.

I'm a shareholder as well. Alan doesn't have a CLUE what's going on at AAI. Too many products, too many other issues. At that level, you're all about compliance, media, and profits. If the folks below you are blowing sunshine and roses up your a$$, then you're a florist.

No one is saying they want their cars delivered less than perfect. No one is saying Ford is building a crappy product.

But someone PLEASE explain to me how they can build an entire car in less than 2 days but can't fix one in under a month.

As far as I'm concerned they're not "working their a$$es off" to fix anything. Except maybe one $10/hour guy putting coolant labels on a car in a parking lot. One at a time. (1. Get label. 2. Walk out to car 1/2 mile away from building. 3. Place label on car. 4. Take break. 5. Go back to building for another label. Repeat.)

Now if Shaun is alluding to some super secret major catastrophe like bad connecting rods or bent valves then yeah, fix it. But here's a clue... take the entire freakin' engine out and put a new one in. Charge it back to your engine shop and stop making your customers pay the price for it in time. Two days, right? Outsource it to the Ford dealer across the street if you can't do it yourself but get it done.

I sold a really nice, really cool CTS-V to get this car. Had I known it was going to take this long I would have happily kept the V and bought a Mustang next year or the year after. Not that I was impulsive; I've been waiting for this exact Mustang for years -- 6 speed, good HP, good fuel economy. But while I see people who ordered LONG after me getting their cars and mine just SITTING, yeah I get a little perturbed. If there were some actual WORK being done to MY car I would feel differently. Or if Dave Pericak was inviting me up to Flat Rock next weekend to pick it up, yeah, I'd feel differently.

I'm a VERY reasonable person. But when you see the same status, day after day after day with NO change, you begin to believe YOU as a customer are not a priority. I know I'm not the ONLY customer. And I don't even care EXACTLY what's wrong. Fix it. Whatever. Just tell me when it's going to be shipped and delivered. 5/14 has long since come and gone. 5/21 (last update) has long since come and gone. Either the car is fixable and is being fixed or it's not. Ford could have built 5,000 of my cars since they parked it. Send me a new one and use the other "perfect" one as a demo.

these posts make it clear to me you have NEVER worked in manufacturing or heavy industry.

I am truly sorry you feel this way. I do not wish to fight with you, and it is clear I will be unable to change your opinion.

As someone who is informed on what has been going on please take my word on the fact that you have this situation wrong. It is NOT possible for thigs to be as simple as you wish they were.

For the record Mr. Pericak NEVER lied to me, when he told me all cars were shipping they were, and another hold followed several days after we talked at AAI. I post what is appropriate (and sometimes things that arent as I have been scolded for posts on TMS and thats why I dont chime in on hold threads anymore)

Your comment was insulting and ignorant. I take high offense to that comment. It was un-informed and uncalled for

I apologize if you were personally offended.

Uncalled for? Absolutely not?

Uninformed? ABSOLUTELY! That, sir, is the root of the problem.

Tell me WHEN I'll get my car and I'll make appropriate. Tell me WHY my car is delayed and I'll decide if I want a car with "issues".

You can PM me with your secrets and I'll shut up. Otherwise you're just another fanboy who has his car playing the "I know something you don't so I'm better than you" game. Sorry that doesn't help those of us waiting. It makes you come across as elitist and insensitive.

I got this response from a thread I created on blueoval forums.

"Sent Offsite" means that your vehicle is being sent through the Vehicle Personalization Center (VPC) to finish off your vehicle (tape stripe, etc).

I hope this means my car is the final leg of its journey but i'd be pissed if my car's been sitting since 4/14 just for some stripes.

I think mine went off site twice. Once for stripes and once to remove them... or something.
