Is it just because they're a "GT500" muffler? Go over to Teamshelby.com or fordgt500.com. People are ripping them off their cars. You could probably get a set for a song . I actually gave mine away. Old school, new school, back to school... ???

Also, replacing the H-pipe w/an X... Why? European sounding... . Maybe gain 1-2 extra hp, but the H sounds 10 times better, hence, why the new GT500 have them, and why the guys w/ 07-10 are replacing their X w/ the H.

This is the Bizzaro World thread.

Not hate'n, just say'n .
According to most posts I have read, after market axle backs do not increase the HP much if any. Based on that, I went for sound. I have had straight pipes on our '07 GT Vert, and many other loud pipes on various cars. Kinda tired of the cops looking my way every time I drive.....therefore, I choose the GT500 mufflers. There is no drone on the GT and the sound is different than when on the Shelbys, which most think is a good sound. Everyone has there own reason for what they get....but being a GT500 muffler had nothing to do with my purchase other than a way to identify the sound I preferred. Big bucks does not mean good sound to everyone, so there are choices.

I bought them because I like the tips. The great sound is an added bonus.

I bought them because they were attached to the car. There is no way I'd consider changing mufflers on this car, it sounds absolutely perfect for what I want. Not too quiet, not too loud, no drone, subdued under normal conditions, menacing but refined roar when you open it up.
