No drone! I drive 50 miles a day and these are these are great for what i want. The muffler body looks about the same as stock but the tips look a hundred times better!

YES! Just did this mod (actually I just removed the white foam plug, the one in the engine compartment, just behind the rubber diaphragm), I read the thread and sounds like folks were happiest just removing that one.

It's a great complement mod to the SVT GT500 mufflers - it's like the "fader" control for engine sound was adjusted just a little, so it's now more of a 3-D "surround sound" in the engine song. I am VERY happy with it - plenty of noise now.

But what I was originally looking for was more bass/low rumble actually, and definitely more of anything at idle, and the sound tube can't supply that. I'll wait until next summer's shows to see if I can listen Live to a few modded cars then. But for now the GT500 + sound tube mod is definitely a big improvement over stock. Even my wife relented and said that it actually did sound better now. So there ya go.

does the roush axleback have more bass/rumble at idle than gt500 mufflers? or are axlebacks pretty much the same at idle?

Heard the Roush and they are bad ***! They are loud at cold start and will wake the neighbors at 6am. Once they warm up they have a nice low rumble a little louder than stock. When you get on the car it is music to your ears. What the GT should have sounded like. Worth every penny. Put them on my list for spring mod.

Better not wait to get them. Roush just raised the price from $399 to $449. No guarantee they won't go up in price again.

Just got the GT500 axleback on - wow, it is better than expected. Loses some low obnoxious tones but gains some very nice mid tones. Was a bit hard pulling the Maganaflow Streets off after running so well, 12.5s and 12.6 at Pinks All Out, Firebird Raceway this weekend but this is definately a great sound - worth possibly sacrificing a few hp for the sound. I will let you know if it affects my ET on next outing but so far feels about equal.

Pinks Launch - first round - was fun. We even had a dust storm blow through during the second round, hey it's AZ.

Does anyone think that the change in firing order on the new 5.0 has made a difference in exhaust sound. I always thought nothing sounded better than a mustang with flowmasters. Even my last mustang an 07 gt auto had flowmasters on it and I loved the sound. Just a thought. Havent done any mods to my 11 gt auto yet. going to wait till next year to hear what exhaust I like.

The difference in firing order definitely makes the sound more unique than Mustangs of the past. The 2011 5.0 motor doesn't sound much like the old 5.0 from the fox body era.

Flowmaster Super40s in place of the stock mufflers also sound excellent on the 2011 Mustang 5.0 at the expense of a slight bit of drone.

I just put the mufflers on today and the difference is NIGHT and DAY!!!! There is ZERO DRONE! As soon as u punch the gas it sounds amazing...it really comes to life and sounds like a different car!!!! Worth every penny. The 5.0 should have had this as the stock exhaust...

I'm toying with the idea of swapping my FRPP Sports for the GT500 mufflers. I love the Sports but every now and then I feel like they are too loud.

The GT500 mufflers sound excellent on the 2011 5.0. I think we lucked out into a great sound for the 5.0 given that they are designed for a supercharged 5.4 AL block engine runnig 550 hp. Shipt It !

Some one needs to throw a lthal orx with thier SVT mufflers. This GT500 sounds great and Im sure the 5.0 will sound just as good.

Keep in mind an X pipe will knock out more lower frequencies. This is one of the reason that companies like Flowmaster etc.. do a specialised close knit hybrid H pipe. But it is all personal preference - I don't like the raspy sound. Am wondering how LT headers would sound with these GT500 muffs ?

Pinks at Firebird Raceway - Made it to the selection of the final 32 with a best pass on the arm drop of 12.6, best ever run of 12.58 so. As usual they picked a low 10s class and only recall one time picking a slower 12s class - it was a blast though and had a good time. Keep in mind we are running at roughly a density altitude of 3000 ft so that would be a 12.3 at sea level.
