Eric have you done the airtube mod yet and taken out both of the foam mufflers in the noise tube? its free and you need to do it. Your looking for a more aggressive cabin noise. Remove both the upper and lower foam plugs

plus if you dont like it you can put them right back and it requires no tools

I currently have Magnaflow Street axleback installed, slight drone at 1k-2k rpm, nice overall sound but still not what I'm looking for. Tried Corsa Sport which had a unique sound at idle, loud as hell under WOT and just a bit more drone than stock but really did nock it out - driver side did not fit and banged on the hanger bracket so I sent back. Also had a set of Super40s with stock inlet/outlet, some drone but actually less at the lower rpms, best sound overall for me, but may have lost a bit of power and Flowmaster does not recommend tail pipe length of less than 1 foot on off the shelf models. I was really leaning toward the Hushpower but am finished gambling. Ordered the GT500 axleback from Summit for $281. I have info from other sites indicating they are on back order from FRPP and may have missed it in this thread but where are you guys buying them from and getting shipped so quickly ? Thanks for the video/sound clips - definately sounds like a notch up from stock and has that chambered sound I'm looking for.

From Shaun (Stinger1982) who works for Rehagen Racing. He will have another shipment in November if I'm not mistaken

A guy over on SVTPerformance posted this video of his car with 2011 GT500 axleback.

Well I installed them last night. I really like the look of the big tips and the sound on acceleration. At idle they are not much louder than stock. Although that may change a bit after they break in a little as the stock exhaust did get louder after some miles were put on them.

Overall I think this is what I was looking for.

They sound great on takeoff and driving.

Zero drone. I drove 40 miles this morning in traffic so that was a good test.

Look fantastic out back.

Very high quality piece and easy to install. Especially when you take it to a shop

Still a little quiet on idle. The rumble is there it is just not loud. There is a reason why Ford does not put any idling in there audio clip as there is not a lot of difference from stock.

Seems to have smoothed out my idle a little that was a little rough after the FRPP tune. Not sure on this one well need a little more time to tell for sure.

Dealing with Shaun and Rehagen Racing is always great

For the price I feel like I got more than my moneys worth.

No, I have not yet done this mod - it must have come up before I bought my car and joined TMS (mid-June 2010). Am willing to research & try it, unless you have a handy linky already?

I am starting to think that to get the rumbly idle I was seeking I may need to change out to Long Tubes, X-Pipe, and cat-backs, and we already know how expensive that is. If I had more $$, I'd like to get the Roush setup and compare, but I am set for now. If I come up with $400 more to spend, it may well be for the FRPP ProCal/Tune.

BTW, did anyone else notice that Roush raised the price on that axle-back form $399 to $449 last weekend?

I tend to agree with Shotzy's write-up above. I wish I had his FRPP tune, suspension mod and his wind blocker. Oh well, all the more to look forward to.

You will not hear noticeable idle with any axleback while you maintain stock cats and resonators, only slight differences.

The GT500 muffs are a winner for me - can't wait. I like the chambered sound similar to Flowmeister. Have to decide if they would look better with back ends in flat black where the tips exit. They may loose a few hp to others but willing to live with that instead of drone !

You have my no-drone guarantee! (If you're gonna spew, spew in this...)

Sorry, I love movie references.

I installed my gt500 axleback last night! Easy install (30 minute from on the jack to off the jack. Definately a very noticable difference in sound! This is how ford should have done it from the factory. It sounds like a muscle car should. I got mine with 500 miles already on it used for $150. I had corsa on my last car and planned to do it again but after these results i will be leaving that alone! I have stock tune and airbox still.

How do you like the looks of the exhaust tips and overall appearance - wondering if they would look better with the body coated in black ?

The look is nice also. I think the tips are a huge improvement over stock.

Are the bodies the same size as stock - in pics they don't look quite as wide ? Also let's hear another opinion on drone. The reason I am switching is that my Magnaflows drone between 1k-2k and it's an auto.

Almost can't tell them apart, except for the tips. Bodies are exact same size as stock. Again, the drone is zero.

So YOURS were "broken in"! Maybe that has something to do with it, because I thought mine were too quiet when 1st installed, but now they're growing on me.

Why would there be any change after miles driven other than roasting off a little assembly oil - these are chambered and have no packing, right ?

The stock one had to break in as well. It got a bit louder after a few hundred miles or so. Maybe it has something to due with the soot from the engine or something coating the mufflers to change the sound a little bit. Just a guess on my part.

As for drone. NONE

They sound exactly the same as the stockers when cruising on the highway with the added enjoyment of a nice little burble of sound when I go to pass someone.

And for an FYI, I drive 80 miles a day round trip and at least 60 of those are on the highway in all kinds of traffic and I often find myself in 6th gear at 1000-2000 rpm. To lazy to shift sometimes
