Is it good to drive at WOT once in a while?
It's called an "Italian tune-up".
My dad would regale me with stories of when he used to work at a mechanic's shop and these little old ladies would bring their cadillacs in and say they weren't running as well and could they please do a tune-up.
My dad would then proceed to take it out and stomp the hell out of the gas pedal, thus blowing out all the carbon build-up in the cylinders from under-use. It'd fix them right up.
Of course, nowadays with cleaner fuel and computer-controlled engines, carbon build-up isn't really a problem, but it's still good for the engine to let her breathe at her best once in a while. Think of it as reinstalling Windows and getting rid of all that crap that's built up.

Although it's older, as it a 96? Buick Park Avenue Ultra supercharged 3800 V6.. Still had the carbon thing happen to the valves.
Ran like crap... then Dad floored it a few times. Done.

So yeah, I'm a fan of WOT to keep the valves good.

Man please, I drive WOT every chance I get or can make. Thats why I bought a sports car to begin with. If the engine goes south I deal with that when it happens. In the meantime I'm going to drive (not abuse) it like I stole it.

I go WOT at least ten times every time I drive the car. I also make a point of having fun in it screwing around every now and then. The kids love donuts!
Notice towards the end when I'm doing quick shifts from 1st to 4th. First and second gear are all tire spin. If I power shift into 3rd, it's half tire spin. And I've got really good tires on her too. This is a sports car engine. It needs to be treated that way on a regular basis. It's like vitamins man. Give the car its vitamins every single day!

All good and fun, but How long before Ford starts denying a warranty on our cars because we drive at WOT, or drove to fast (mph), or spent too long in one gear, etc....
I hope it never happens, but apparently the GM OnStar data is still collected and used even if you don't have OnStar service. Let's hope Ford never does this type of stupid unfriendly customer behavior and continue's to allow us to enjoy our cars as designed.
