Glad I got the Wheel/tire warranty

Just got my car like 2 weeks ago and already have to use it. I was cruising with a few other mustangs last weekend to a show and while we were on the freeway im behind one of the cars and i see a bent up piece of metal fly out from under his car. When we get to the show i check the bumper and it looked fine.

Well I go to Chicane last night and under the bright lights i notice a chunk of the tire is missing and the wheel was scraped. The mark on the wheel is green just like the piece of metal.

here are the results:

lucky for me I decided to get the wheel and tire protection plan which covers them from road debris. going to the dealer in a few hours to have them take care of it. ill let you guys know what happens.

i think it was $500 for 5 years. totally worth it on the brembo package with one tire being $400

he said they will cover any wheel and tire on the car. even if the wheels are $1000 apiece.

its at the dealership now, they said they are gunna make some phone calls and see what they can do. he said it takes 2-3 hours to sort it out with the warranty people, and that sometimes they send someone out to assess the damage. we'll see what they decide.

ok well they are gunna cover the tire. they arent gunna cover the wheel cuz its just cosmetic. im not to worried about it though, i checked the contract and it was $350 for the plan. The tire would have cost me $400 so the plan already paid for itself and i have another 5 years of coverage.

they talked to a local place about the wheel and they said itd be about $200 to get it fixed so im happy im just paying $200 instead of $600

$200 is too much to fix that small spot on the wheel. I would look for some other place and get more estimates.

As small as that spot is on the wheel, if it were mine I would just touch it up a little with a dremel tool or file and get some touchup paint close to the color and paint the spot and go on. If you spend $100-$200 every time some small ding shows up on the wheels you might have a fortune tied up in them very quickly.

thats the thing though, my last wheels were all perfect after 12,000 miles. no curb rash, no marks like this, nothing. I keep them perfect so to me its worth the money to make them perfect again.

Most Alloy Wheel Dealers here will deal direct, sounds as if your dealer was marking up the quote. I could be wrong, but the most I have ever spent was 125.00 and that direct deal with company, after a valet accident.

When you consider a five year warranty is a little over $500 through the online place, $500 just for wheels/tires is absurd. Remember, they don't offer these services to be nice guys, they profit off it. Glad it worked out for you.
