FYI - How to check for NOT READY before emissions test
I found this out too late and had to get tested twice. But I can verify it definitely works ...
To determine if the vehicle is ready for I/M testing, turn the ignition key to the on position for 15 seconds without cranking the engine. If the service engine soon indicator blinks eight times, it means that the vehicle is not ready for I/M testing; if the service engine soon indicator stays on solid, it means that the vehicle is ready for I/M testing.
My car failed for O2 not ready and Catalyst not ready. When I got home I did the above test and sure enough .. I got the 8 blinks. You have to wait for all the other lights to go off before it will blink ... and it will only blink the sequence once from what I noticed so keep you eyes on it.
I put car back to stock tune and drove the car for about 45 minutes in all different traffic. When I got home and checked again .. it was a steady light and no blinks. I went back to emissions place and it passed no problem.

I wonder if this works on all S197s? May need to try it later
