at 7.2-7.8k to yield only an additional 113 crank hp... that's a little steep.
Unless it too is (REALLY) underrated. I mean if a tune and CAI is yielding 35-45 rwhp... So figure a conservative additional 50 crank. for $700.

You'd be dumb to spend 7-8k+ install for 113hp.

The 624hp kit sounds more reasonable.
Yup, spend half that much money or less on normally aspirated mods and probably get close enough in power to outrun the heavier supercharged car and with less stress on the motor.

Maybe not as impressive when you pop the hood but also lighter on your wallet.

not with power shifting every pass before the engine is even broken in yet.

As a matter of fact, at that level as soon as you get close to the car with the blower to install it, all the Ford badges fall off and disintegrate...

Jason, the plant that use to make all the FRPP part has just been shot down completely due to financial reasons says a Ford spokesperson.
Thx for sharing Shaun.....

LOL.

Thats my current plan, but most likely I will have to go with the Steeda CAI since FRPP doesn't have one.

Ford Racing Announces New 2011 5.0L Supercharger – Capable of Over 624 HP

by Andrew Wolf on August 20, 2010
2Comments
The 2011 Ford Mustang GT featuring the all-new 5.0-liter, four-valve V8 engine is already quite the performance ride straight from the factory, producing 412 exhilarating horses and 390 ft-lbs of torque. But if you’re in the market for one of these new Pony’s, too much horsepower just isn’t in your vocabulary, and the folks at Ford racing are well aware of that. And so today, the performance division of Ford motor company has announced the first power upgrade component for the 5.0-liter engine, a twin-screw supercharger unit available to consumers that can produce a staggering 624 horsepower and 536 ft-lbs of torque. The kit will be available in three levels; a 525 HP kit, 624 HP, and a tuner kit for racing applications and the extreme enthusiast. Best of all, you can retain your warrantee if installed by a dealer…

Official Press Release:

Dearborn, Mich., Aug. 20, 2010 — Ford Racing has announced today the availability of a new, 2.3L twin-screw supercharger for the 2011 Mustang. When mated to the all-new 5.0L 4V TiVCT V8 engine, this 50-state-legal powertrain, can produce 624 hp SAE @ 6900 rpm and 536 lb-ft SAE @ 4700 rpm. This is the first Twin-screw unit available to consumers.

The new supercharger is Ford Racing’s first power upgrade component for the new 5.0 engine. It was developed by Ford Racing engineers, in close collaboration with Ford Motor Company’s powertrain engineers, Team Mustang, and select Tier 1 suppliers. The supercharger is being seen for the first time Saturday at the annual Woodward Dream Cruise in Ford’s Mustang Alley display.

“Superchargers are the ultimate in power upgrades for Mustang enthusiasts,” says George Goddu, Ford Racing Performance Group Manager. “However, calibration for a modern V8 engine, especially one with twin-independent variable cam timing, is incredibly complex. Production calibration for the 5.0 engine took 19 months. And we had that knowledge base to work from.

“In fact we had the whole engineering background of the engine right from initial concept,” Goddu added. “Without that extensive knowledge, calibration for a supercharger would be a long, difficult, hit-or-miss operation. It would be almost impossible to do optimum calibration, that results in great power, along with drivability and durability.”

“After more than 100 hours of accelerated durability testing, the entire Ford Racing package performed flawlessly” reports Dev Saberwal, Ford Racing’s lead calibration engineer, “Ford Racing performance parts are subjected to extensive testing to ensure optimum performance across a broad range of conditions.”

This supercharger comes as a complete package, and it’s available in three levels: a 525 hp kit with a 12/12 warranty; a 624 hp kit and a tuner kit for racing and extreme enthusiasts. Each of these impressive kits gives 2011 Mustang owners the opportunity to boost the performance of their cars to new levels.

Ford Racing Performance Parts offers a large selection of performance products from complete race cars to injectors. For Mustang enthusiasts Ford Racing’s catalog of performance upgrades offers a range of enhancements for the 2011 Mustang as well as a wide range of power, chassis-system and appearance upgrades for 2010, 2005-2009 and earlier Mustangs.

Yesterday afternoon when I read the FRPP press release and power/pricing, my first thought was this:

The 7 psi version has GOT to be making more than 525 hp. They've got to be doing that because that's probably the kit that goes into the GT350 and they want to market it as less power than the GT500.

My next thought was:

If 9 psi makes 624 hp, how could 7 psi make 100 hp less? There is no way adding 2 psi of boost alone is going to give you 100 more hp.

My third thought was:

Whipple makes this supercharger, and hasn't Whipple themselves weeks ago announced their 7 psi supercharger for the 5.0 puts out around 600 hp?
And doesn't Vortech and Procharger's version also put out 7 psi and make around 600 hp?

So my thought was, that seems more like it.
I'm betting the 525 hp rating is underrated by at least 50 hp (unless FRPP has tuned it to make 7 psi down low but then taper off aggressively so it really does never peak above 525 hp). But why do that, why not just make a 5 psi version and not neuter it if 525 hp is the goal.

I think we'll see it's underrated. 2 psi difference should be worth no more than 30-40 hp.
So if the 9 psi version is 624, I expect the 7 psi version to really make closer to 580 hp (again unless they've tuned it to cut it's boost above 5000 rpms so it does not exceed the 525 hp level).
And if that's the case, I'm guessing a little tuning by a tuner can open that back up to make the 580+ hp with little issue.
