Any of you have the 3M paint protection (clear 3M thin film) put on your Mustang's front end and if so, did you have it professionally installed or did you install it? Costs both ways? Did it turn out good? Would you put it on again?

Best thing I've ever done to my car. Have it on my Jeep and Mustang. Jeep cost about $700 for front, headlights, behind all 4 wheels and the door jams. Mustang was about the same price.

I had mine installed professionally at the local XPEL place. I like working on my own car, but tint and clear bra are two things I would definitely leave to a pro.

Had it professionally installed since they laser cut the material using OEM measurement specifications. You can hardly tell its on there, i would definitely recommend it.

I wonder if it would be more prudent to just leave it alone and use the money to repaint the hood when you finally have seen enough?

And doing HPDE events would also make it difficult even for the best protection I bet.

3M is the best we have it on all our cars! My 2006 daily driver has '0' chips thanks to the clear bra and now the new stuff, Nano Technology is even better!
Make sure to cover the lights also!

 

No question it is the best!

I paid for professional installation on my Bullitt through the Dealer (over paid but was able to finance in my pmt that way).

But I tried myself on my Cruiser. Straight sections and slight curves are easy. But the multiple curves on the front end are a different story. The pattern was cut correct, but for one person to stretch as needed - and in 3 directions at once - resulted in some wrinkles and about a 1/4" short on one side. I don't mind on the Cruiser and at least I protected its finish while brand new. In a few years from now when I recoup the $300+ I may have it professionally installed.

But my advice is get the 3M and pay a pro to install it.

Sounds good, except for the winter part, our 2011 didnt leave the showroom until it was applied. OUr guy came right to the dealer and installed it..

 

Your installer looks kinda young.

The cost to get your front bumper, hood, possibly mirrors, near wheel wells to get repainted would be way more then the cost of the 3M install, AND once its repainted its going to get chips and dings again and now you have to repaint again.

 

Looks good however since I have a vert and the rules state I need a roll bar, guess I won't be attending

Yes, thats my boy Connor and he has already claimed it as "His Car" and as far as moving back to Pa, yes we are for summers I hope as soon as my wife is out of school. At least for a few months, we have a repair shop and storage in western Pa. I think I would freeze, its been 60 here in the valley today and I have a heavy coat on.....
