Ford CS no longer providing details on orders
#41
If everyone has been waiting as long as they say that means they ordered when there was no rebate available anyway. You were happy with the numbers when you ordered it but now those same numbers would cause you to cancel your order? Doesn't make much sense to me. By the way I highly doubt the rebate is going anywhere, they seldom get worse.
I wouldn't. But I'm sure some people factored this into their purchasing equation.

Ford doesn't care about 2010's sitting on dealers' lots! The dealers already paid Ford for those cars, so Ford has the money for those cars already. It's the dealers problem to unload the now and most of us are selling the remaining 2010's at big losses to get them gone.

Oh, they might not have been lying to you. I, too, can track a car from Flat Rock to the end of the rail line. However, I can only do that once Ford actually puts it on a **** train. Before that, it's just sitting in limbo in a parking lot somewhere with a status of "released from plant."

If something amazing doesn't happen, like everybody's cars arriving in the next 13 days, if Ford thinks people are pissed now, just wait until they all miss out on the $500 customer cash because their deliveries have been delayed.
If they don't extend that rebate to the buyers whose cars are long overdue, that could REALLY turn off loyal Ford customers.

Why raise hell with the dealer? That's not fair as we're at the mercy of Ford. Ford determines what rebates to offer. Ford is building the cars. Ford is holding the cars for QC. The dealer is not at fault.

I wonder if one of the Free Press reporters might do some good. I see Brent Snavely (bsnavely@freepress.com) writes a lot about Ford. Seems like it would be quite the scoop to find out why thousands upon thousands of cars have been built but not shipped, why Ford CS can't provide customers with info, and why the dealer network so crucial to providing continuing sales for the brand are so inept at helping customers (specific dealers excluded, of course.) I am most certainly rethinking stock ownership in a company that can't deliver their inventory.
This situation is not unique to the '11 Mustang. It happens EVERY time a new - or substantially updated - vehicle comes out at Ford. They QC them to death to make **** sure that the cars are perfect before delivering them. Have you not read anything lately about how big of strides Ford has made in the past 5 years with new cars being introduced with ever better quality?
Ford would rather delay some early cars than to suffer the backlash (and expense) of delivering cars that are subpar. Bravo, Ford!

They can ship more cars than they build, but not by a wide margin so it'll take awhile to get caught up. Have patience, young grasshopper.

But go back to Shaun's adamant denial of any quality holds (according to Dave Pericak).
So which is it oh great oracle of all things Ford: quality hold or shipping problems?

I have been told by someone inside Ford that there were/are parts shortages and
some "minor" launch issues. He couldnt get more info as the source was pretty
tight lipped about it. The Ford rep that looked into my delay basically backed that up
with out specificatly stating the reasons. My guess (for what it is worth) is it has to
be hard for them to fix the cars...the assembly people do just that so they would have to
call in people to work on the cars in the lot. If there are 2000 of them sitting and they
add parts/repair 100 a day thats 20 days to get through them.

FORD, I WANT MY CAR !!!

FYI, my dealer and I haven't exactly been connected at the hip. They've lied to me at least once that I can verify and they've been fairly unreliable up til now. Considering this and the fact that Ford is cutting off information to it's customers, the dealer is the face of the company; the Ford representatives. They're my contact, that's why I'll be talking with them. It all rolls down hill. This is all hypothetical but I'm sure everything will be just fine on the rebate side of things before and after 6/1.

You are correct we are the face of Ford as far as direct customer intervention goes. Was the rebate in place when you ordered the car? If no, then you have nothing to complain about. You ordered a car and agreed to the numbers when you ordered it without the rebate. If the car comes in and you pay the agreed upon price I don't see any problem. If yes the rebate was in place at time of order, did your dealer guarantee it for you? We guarantee the standard rebate on every order we write. If the rebate gets worse, we cover it. If it gets better, you get it. If there was no guarantee of the rebate then I am sure there must have been discussion about the risk of it not being in place at time of delivery, so again no suprise or change from your dealers end.
As for the dealer lying to you, you still opted to do business with them so quite honestly why do you expect the relationship to get any better. Fool me once, shame on you....... It amazes my the numbers of posts I read that say "my dealer lied to me but I still did business with them and now they are lying to me". No sh*%, a rat will always be a rat even if you dress them in a bunny suit. Do business with a dealer that doesn't lie to you in the first place and you will avoid these situations. Obviously if the lying didn't occur until late in the process that makes it a little tougher but you could still cancel and start over. People doing business with bad dealer just perpetuates the problems. Bad dealers go away when people stop doing business with them. If you let them lie to you but still reward them with your business they aren't going to change and you can't realistically expect them to.

Brilliant! So what you're saying is you know as much as the rest of us "normal" people. I think this further emphasizes the core issue here -- a lack of information flow from Ford.
The sad part here is the dealers are getting screwed too but how they deal with it is the key to customer satisfaction. If the only information I get is from the 800 number, then my dealer is 100% worthless and nothing more than a building to do the paperwork. If I KNEW I could get my deposit back, I'd probably cancel my order now simply based on the fact that a) my dealer took 10 days to place my order and b) their communication is next to non-existent. Regarding the latter, I did get a 10 word email today regarding my order that basically said they're asking the regional rep to look into the situation. It took them 24 hours to get me that response. But I bet if I sent an email querying about a new car purchase (new customer) I'd get a response immediately.
Sadly, good dealers are NOT the norm -- they are the exception and finding one is very difficult. I could not have known my sales guy was going to be this uninvolved in the process until the process started. That's not on me. But you can d@mn sure bet I'll never order another car with them again.

To me the the frustrating thing is that Ford cannot be more accurate with the dates. If there were QC issues that are now resolved it should be pretty easy to schedule how long it will take to repair the cars and get them out. That certainly doesn't seem to be the case since the QC issues were resolved nearly a month ago now. These aren't engineering issues, they are production issues. Given that, I cannot understand why they can't give ONE date and stick with it, rather than incrementally slip the ETA - to the point that I have no confidence in it at all. It sounds like whatever is going on is very disorganized, as exemplified by the randomness of build date to ETAs - they are all over the map.

I know Ford's answer to all this would be 'walk a mile in my shoes', 'pimpin' ain't easy', blah blah. And really, building cars prolly isn't all its cracked up to be.
I blame all this consternation on the internet. They should've never invented this dam thing.
There's too many people here with too much information.
