I have an '11 red candy convert on order. My dealer told the order is in an accepted but assembly is on hold due to a supplier foul up.

Yeah, maybe like 3 weeks ago.

If something amazing doesn't happen, like everybody's cars arriving in the next 13 days, if Ford thinks people are pissed now, just wait until they all miss out on the $500 customer cash because their deliveries have been delayed.

If they don't extend that rebate to the buyers whose cars are long overdue, that could REALLY turn off loyal Ford customers.

That would be "it" for me. Another lost $500 on the deal means I'll just wait a year and get one used for $5k less.

Last week Ford CS told me they were referring me to an escalation group and a guy called me today with some new info. Until today I've been told "in production, produced" since 4-13. Now they're telling me ETA to dealership 6-2. I asked about a hold and he said there was a hold on mustangs, but not mine. Really, and my car has been sitting for 5 weeks, why? So we shall see.

Yours with my VIN comes up as the blue letters with no info. Maybe it isn't ready yet. Thanks anyway.
Try this:

http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...icker.pdf?vin=

Insert VIN at the end.

My sticker doesn't show up on the inventory website either (still doesn't), but the Ford Direct website has had it since Friday.

It doesn't add up. . . why continue producing the cars if they ALL end up on hold. Or even if it's a large percentage of them??? The CS person I spoke with didn't even offer any kind of escalation even though she admitted that 5/14 ETA has come and gone and no new date was available.

My gut tells me it's a lack of infrastructure available to ship the backlog and the existing contracts simply won't allow them to ship faster without modding the contracts or letting new ones which would address a temporary problem that once resolved would probably cost more than it's worth in terms of revenue.

Only if the press gets wind of it and it starts to impact their bottom line will anything be done about this mysterious order fulfillment problem. Imagine the headline: "Thousands of new Mustangs sitting while paying customers stew"

Maybe that's the idea. Orders are going well and by holding 15,000 cars in the waiting lot until the rebate is gone ... $7.5 million more into the box

Ford has to know that many people will cancel their orders if they miss out on 500 to 1250 in rebates...

You think so? I wouldn't but I would raise all kinds of hell with my dealer.

You might be right on the shipping. Shipping companies holding out for more money on a renegotiated contract, Ford unwilling to pay, backlog of Mustangs two weeks behind schedule, and with the parking lot designed as it is (first in, last out), all they can do is keep pulling cars until they get there. Worse, with the parking lot so jam packed they probably can't pull specific cars from a row until they pick the front of the row, kinda like Solitaire.

FILO is a sorry way to design that parking lot.

I wonder if one of the Free Press reporters might do some good. I see Brent Snavely (bsnavely@freepress.com) writes a lot about Ford. Seems like it would be quite the scoop to find out why thousands upon thousands of cars have been built but not shipped, why Ford CS can't provide customers with info, and why the dealer network so crucial to providing continuing sales for the brand are so inept at helping customers (specific dealers excluded, of course.) I am most certainly rethinking stock ownership in a company that can't deliver their inventory.

There are two window sticker sites that ford has running. One is for inventory, the other is for general use. Here is the one for general use:
Code:
http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin=YOURVINGOESHERE

If the shipping can't keep up with the backlogs of cars sitting in the lot, why keep producing new Mustangs. That would only make the situation worse.

The ford direct site has worked since the 13th for me. My build is 5/19, but I have a 5/22 ETA

I don't expect it on 5/22, but if I end up having to wait over a month, I'll be looking for a used GT500.

If everyone has been waiting as long as they say that means they ordered when there was no rebate available anyway. You were happy with the numbers when you ordered it but now those same numbers would cause you to cancel your order? Doesn't make much sense to me. By the way I highly doubt the rebate is going anywhere, they seldom get worse.

No surprise that Ford has stopped giving out details. The CS rep was apparently pretty short with my GF when she called earlier to check on the status of my car, even after saying it was a great order. haha

Told her multiple times not to call the main number anymore, just to call the dealer from now on.

Guess we'll see as the week goes on where exactly my **** car is.

I'm going to laugh if my car I placed an order for on Friday comes before many of the people here. I will also post pics to make people jealous!

I confess; I've called them like 20 times...First over getting a VIN, then the $750 rebate mailer, then to get status updates on my order...Naturally they have been less cordial and helpful with each successive call...

Granted, if the dealer ever gave me an update now and then, I'd never need to call the number...
