Ford CS no longer providing details on orders

I just called and spoke with one of the CSRs and was told they no longer have access to order information beyond "awaiting shipment" and ETA.

So my ETA was 5/14 (looks like it's not gonna make it... signed Captain Obvious.) And all they could tell me was "awaiting shipment." Nothing else. They said, "Call the dealer". I sent my dealer two emails today including a CC to the general sales manager -- no response since 9:30 this morning. NONE.

I kept trying to see if there was ANYTHING beyond "awaiting shipment" she (Ford CSR) could tell me and what I got was "they took that information away from us."

Hmmmmm.....

on Monday i called my dealer and my salesman was off for the day and they let me talk to the "inventory manager" (whats what they called him) and he was able to tell me exactly where it was down to the hour and minute of its complete journey from Flat Rock to Phoenix.

I order all of our store's Mustangs and have for several years. I've ordered Ford vehicles for about 10 years. I can't find out squat about where any of my built 2011 Mustangs are, other than they've been "released from the plant." None are on trains yet and are apparently just parked out in a holding lot at Ford waiting for the okay to ship them our direction. ETA's have come and gone with no cars coming to us. I searched our region (130+ Ford dealers) and only 2 '11 GT's are actually sitting on dealer lots with dozens and dozens simply showing as built but not shipped yet, so we're not alone.

Really? So it's across the board now? I started noticing this about a week and a half ago when they started saying they could not access information that just the previous week they said "It has no date", as opposed to "We don't have access". I assumed it was just because my order was (probably) ordered as Dealer Stock and they weren't allowed to reveal much about the order in that case.

Sounds now like a DBA got wind of this and went on yon standard database security spree: Strip everyone of read/write access that they do not explicitly need as part of their job. It happens all the time unfortunately. Being in the business myself, these sprees tend to result in me having to jump through hoops in order to get my user rights back so I can actually do my job.

So what you are saying is they are basically useless.

I wonder if the are doing this in response to getting so many calls.

All I know is Ford is screwing the pooch on this.

Absolutely no reason for a car to sit five weeks in a parking lot waiting to be delivered, None at all.

I still believe the reason is they want to move the reaming 2010's on dealer's lots so they are holding the 2011's.

In all actually all they are doing is pissing off their customers.

And as soon as I can find someone high enough on the food chain from Ford I will be letting them know how I feel.

well i guess they were just lieing to me and making it all up then.

the 5 closest dealers to me here in Phoenix have 27 2011 mustangs with 1 GT500, 8 GTs and the rest V6s

They aren't holding the 2011's because of 2010's being in inventory. They don't care that there are 2010's sitting, and there aren't nearly as many as there were 2009's when the new body style 2010 came out. Ford already sold every 2010 they produced, they sold it to their dealer body. They are all paid for and history as far as they are concerned. They want to sell what they are producing today and don't care about leftovers. Why are there no rebates on the few handful of 2009 cars leftover, because they aren't their problem anymore.

Everyone knew the early production cars were going to end up sitting. It was discussed in multiple threads. The later builds are going to ship quicker than some of the stuff "against the fence".

The VIN website is down, too. Wonder WTF is going on? I'm supposed to get my window sticker this week, and I want to see it!

I don't see any issue with the window sticker site. Maybe you're using the dealer inventory one instead? Or maybe it's just the "access restricted" thing that keeps showing up randomly. If it's the latter, just keep trying, it'll show up.

As I recall.
Stock orders were the supposed to sit and retail orders were supposed to ship when they cam off the line.
Mine was a retail order built on 4/13 with and original ETA of 4/17, then 4/23 then none at all.

At any point five weeks sitting is not acceptable I don't care when it was built or how it was ordered.

No, it continually tells me it doesn't have access to the site.

Yours with my VIN comes up as the blue letters with no info. Maybe it isn't ready yet. Thanks anyway.

My Gt m/t Brembo had a build date of 4/14 and an ETA of 5/8. (My shipping time would be longer).

Today my ETA changed to 6/9, but it still hasn't shipped. My dealer tells me they had issues with

some 5.0 m/t cars, but who knows if this is the reason. There's a dealer near me that has already

received a GT m/t that had a build date a week after mine.

The way my rep told me it was going to work was that they weren't going to schedule any of our retail orders placed through the retail order verification process untill the okay to ship was given. If I recall that date was around 04/23 but I don't remember off hand. From there they started scheduling the retail orders for about the second week of May with the current eta of those vehicles being the last week of May, first week of June. At least for my 14 scheduled retail orders they are on the exact timeframe that was communicated to us. Whether or not they arrive at the end of the month is yet to be seen but the are right on schedule at this point.

Different regions may work differently but my region has worked this way.

What sucks more than anything is that they say, "ask your dealer" and in many cases the dealer doesn't really give a d@mn. In my case, the whole day has passed today and the a$$hat at Cowles Ford never got back to me. Nothing. To make matters worse, he "emails" the inventory manager (it's a long walk across the dealership I guess.) Adding the General Sales Manager to the email had no effect whatsoever.

I don't mind waiting when I know progress is being made. But when nothing is happening, I start thinking about my options. I'm out $500 already (deposit) and I have nothing to show for it. I can't even get an email response from the "Internet" manager. WTF???? What busines do you have running the "Internet" department if you can't even answer a simple email??? I'm so p!ssed right now that I'm ready to just cancel the order and wait for what I want to show up on the lot somewhere else and buy it from another dealer through a dealer transfer. I don't NEED to spend $30k.

Plus my Ford stock went down today, d@mnit.

I think that one must have got shutdown because of too many hits. That's not a Ford link.

Use the one posted above.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who's frustrated. And when Ford told me to call my dealer (shove off) from now on I was a bit surprised.
