Raptor - F-150
There is new info from leftlanenews on Ford working on a new high performance TT V8 for the upcoming 09' F150. It has the code name Raptor. The TT V8 is supposed to be based on Ford's Ecoboost technology. The v8 used will be Ford's new Boss engine. I know this info is for the 09' F-150 but I could eventually see the technology (ecoboost v8) being shared with future Mustang's to come.

Oh, this is to reply about the ZR-1/Viper competitor. Instead of making a new car from scratch, why not just produce the Shelby GR-1!!! I mean come-on!!! The GR-1 is GORGEOUS!!! You have the tooling from the GT, and Saleen is now in Michigan. That car would sell like hotcakes if they made it. Price it around $85,000-$100,000 with options and there you go. A blazingly fast front-engine V8 powered sports car with ammenites.
Benny, the Raptor project is a long travel suspension factory off-road F150, not the next Lightning pickup. Its being worked on by Ford and members of Fox Racing. Check out BON. Going to be out in the next 2 years or so. They say 33-35" tires, flared fenders with add-ons. And the Boss 6.2L V8! Going to be a mean off-roader if it doesn't get killed 1st.

How about something like this (w/TT V8)..............here Viper, Viper, Viper!
They have a lot of power if they want it...Just a matter of how much and when.
You'll probably see a TwinForce 5.0 before you see a TwinForce Boss6.2
i tihnk it should go sometihng like this
Base V6- 250hp & TQ 5 spd auto/man.
TT V6-325 hp & TQ 5 speed man
NA 4.6 3v-350 hp & TQ 5 speed man
TT5.0-enough to kill a zr1
the thing i dont get though, if ford is wanting to compete and kill the zr1; why go smaller displacement?

Thats a tall order given the price, I'm sure the vette has some inherent cost advantages due to the longevity of its run. Probably the best way to take the vette on and make money would be a global supercar chassis, that way you could get volume. Given the value of the dollar it would make sense to engineer and produce the vehicle here then export the specific model elsewhere.
Off topic, but the F5 is going to be produced in Canada and alot of Zeta stuff is out the door, making the Zeta Camaro pretty much an exclusive plateform. I wonder what the General is gonna have to do to get the Camaro competitively priced to keep it in range of the Mustang. It supposed to be within 500.00 bucks of the Mustang at every level IIRC.

I think you might have something there but I don't think the Twin Force (the Ecoboost engine I would imagine) would put up better power numbers than the GT. In order to keep the GT as an option, I would imagine the TT to be closer to the current power in the GT, 300ish or so.
Forget about 400 horse SE's, how about a GT with that much power? These days V6's are making more horsepower than the GT, this isn't a family car, it's time for Ford to step it up, with the Camaro and Challenger coming Ford needs it to stay on top.
A 400 horse 2010 GT sounds good to me, wouldn't that be enough to satisfy people? It's gonna satisfy me..
