Flowmaster American Thunder Classics installed

Here's a few lame vids.....but the sound is pretty accurate. Great old school, deep sound! They installed perfectly with no hassles whatsoever. Took about an hour with a friends help. They are the 409 stainless versions (box shaped). I'm very happy with the results so far. There's some interior drone between 1700-2000 RPM especially if you are cruising and get into 4th too early and you give it some gas.

Thumbs up

Sounds very nice.

I was almost expecting a bit of tumbleweed when you were out of shot on the second video

Thanks for the videos. I am undecided to go with the Flowmasters or Magnaflows or Blora axle back mufflers. My two main goals is I must not have any drone and it must be louder than stock. What do you think about your mufflers? THanks.

is it me or do mufflers not work as well as they did in 99-04 with the new axle back position of the mufflers on the s197... everything is pretty much quiet until you change your mid pipe. :/ i remember flow masters on 98 mustang gt's and they were beasts!

You cannot see the mufflers at all....they are nicely tucked up under the car...I guess the black finish helps as well. The 4" tips don't hurt either. I love the sound, but I'm not a fan of raspy, higher-pitched systems. They are quite a bit louder than stock, and give the car a real nasty attitude for sure. Last night at my son's baseball game, everybody turned their head as I came past the field in first at 3k. Nasty! Also, they fit my budget. Hope they hold up well.

I never saw the box shaped AT before. Mine were oval. I wonder if they sound different?

They sound different. Box shaped are classics. The oval shaped are either super or delta mufflers.

Throw an offroad H-pipe and things will get real nasty.
These sound good, think I might get me a set.

Those sound really nice. I am also not a fan of the more raspy sounding mufflers. Those are nice and deep and growly.

Update: I'm wondering if these are just a little too much. There's a significant level of interior noise that may be getting on my nerves. The interior resonance between 1700-2000 RPM is unreal. I'll give them another month to be sure of how I feel. Don't get me wrong, they sound amazing....but this is a daily driver and might need something a little quieter. Might consider putting the stockers back on and looking at my other options....something a little more aggressive than stock, but quieter inside. Maybe FRPP GTA's? I've heard they sound nice.

I've had Flows on a 5.0 and 2 4.6 Cobras, and yes, the interior drone is impressive.... it takes some getting used to. After a while you don't even notice it, but everyone else does. Combine that with 'off road' exhaust and you have a LOUD combo. You may start getting some dirty looks from neighbors too... they're not for everyone! I've heard the FRPP's are nice and don't have the drone...

I like the sound, but I'd love to hear them revved up.. Where did you get them and how much if you don't mind me asking?

I looked on american muscle and they don't have the box shaped version and am wondering if the sound is the same...
