New Mustang GT Vs 2011

Before i even start, I am just asking a question so no bashing, Please just answer the question. I am in the Military and just got a new 2010 Mustang GT with the Trackpack for $27,859 through the military car sales, I still have until December when i get back to states and was wondering should i just go with the 2010 Mustang GT or hold out for 2011 GT which common sense would say will cost more, Thankx in advance.

Details on the new Mustang are still just rumors. It's a roll of the dice to jump out right now.

By Dec you should know some concrete #'s on the '11 and make your decision much easier. That is a good price for the '10. It all depends if you want higher hp and a 6spd with some xtra goodies. Im sure you will not see many incentives and discounts the first yr as these cars will most likely be in high demand and most with the goodies sticker in the mid 30's. You can always take 5K and put a SC on it and match or exceed the '11 HP but still lack the 6spd and upgraded brakes ect. Its whats more important to you but i have a feeling the '11 may be the best modern Mustang ever built across the board to date.

I was thinking about waiting until the 2011 come out then i heard about what motor there using. Im a tech at a land rover dealer. it just so happens that our new 2010 vehicles have a new 5.0 motor in them. They have ford stamped all over them, and they are direct injection. The n/a motor we have is 400hp. Its pretty safe to say that this motor is going in the new mustang. I want no parts of this as there are multiple problems we are already seeing with this new motor.

Unless you can save enough money getting the 2010 to get a 6 speed/supercharger (with warranty for 3 years)
I'd wait...

If performance is your main concern...DEFINATELY WAIT....

This does sound pretty close but is it the same engine going into the Mustang?

Coyote engine is all-new for Ford Trucks and the Mustang, it's also not DI.

There is really no way to know that for sure, unless your the one working on the design... DI would help if the compression is very high, like that of that Land Rover, so it is possible. We just have to wait and see.

See above...and other thread.

Cost didn't justify the means.

I can see why DI isn't worth the cost based on this math. The Camaro V6 has DI and it is running 11.3 CR comapred to the Ford's 3.5/3.7l at 10.3 CR. That should only make 3 percent or 9 more HP compared with the Ford. There's also lower emissions with DI but there's also some NVH issues with it too.

So 295hp @ the crank. Respectable, but as I believe it's been said before.. numbers. People look at the numbers and judge. I had to drive the pair (SS/GT and LS/Base V6) to form my opinion and finally stop drinking the GM coolaid and play Switzerland in this war.

If they do go with a 300HP Cyclone plant I'd even be happy with the 6 (though that chickstang stigma..) after seeing what GM did with their V6.

Has anyone seen or have pictures of the JLR 5.0?
I can't find any, but I'm sure it won't look like the spy shot of the Ford 5.0 we've all seen in the mustang.
Also, is the JLR 5.0 an all new block, or did they just bore/stroke the old 4.2 block?

Do you think it's possible to get a few pics of that engine.

Numbers sals cars and 300 sounds a lot better than 299. I was expecting maybe 285 to 295 for the Cyclone. I was honestly surprised when the "Insider" said 315 HP. The only only thing I can guess is Ford will give the 3.7L DI or they will use a trick intake to push some TQ up the powerband. If Ford is doing it with a intake, I'm wondering how much low end TQ they are giving up to make 265 TQ at 6300 rpm or so?

I really hope FORD does put the 5.0 in and it has 400hp. I will be trading my 6 series in if they do.

So essentially a Non-TT/FI Ecoboost on a 37 bore.

It isn't the same engine; Boomer's right.

Yep, a month or so back I mentioned the Jaguar DOHC 5.0 engine possibly being the one that is going in the 2011 Mustang, and everyone told me it's not.
