First oil change yesterday....NO TICK!! Success!

I was dreading my first oil change due to all the stories I heard. I had 2339.9 miles on it and my oil life monitor was 15% life left. I bought the car last summer and the day I brought it home with 5.6 miles on it I noticed the engine was 1/2 quart low from the factory (I didn't have the dealer do a PDI as I wanted to unwrap the car and basically deliver it myself.

I drove gently the first 100 miles and then started working it a bit. I always set my center info to oil temp and never get hard on the throttle until gets well into normal zone.

Didn't use any oil in that 2339 miles and I refilled it with Amsoil Signature series 5w30 and a Wix XP filter. I prefilled filter as much as can without making a mess. The engine was warm but hadn't been run in about 1-2 hours before draining.

It actually seems a bit quieter in the valvetrain and I definitely do not have the notorious mystery tick. Hopefully stays that way or I will build myself a new engine with forged parts!

Good to hear, but I have to say that I got my tick before I even did the first oil change. I had around 1500 miles on the car when I started noticing it ticking.

I had my first change back in May at around 1,800 miles and didn't develop the tick either....but I think I have heard of people who didn't get it until later oil changes....

Just did my first change last weekend using mobile one 5w30 and motorcraft filter and no noises at all from mine, just over 5000 miles.

I've only had my car tick once and that was after starting the car after it had sat for a few months without being started. I'm on my second oil change and have about 12,300 miles on the car and no ticking. I run 5W20 Motorcraft blend with a Motorcraft filter.

I first changed the oil with 4,600 miles on the car and the second time with about 11,200 miles on the car.

I was surprised and wonder if it had to do with time since reset/new or my habit of full throttle driving :-)

I know she's broke in well as not a drop of oil consumption! Brought it to the strip with around 1k miles and ran a good 10 runs with my best 12.9@109. Just left in D and stood on it! 100% stock Ford besides fuel in tank.

I was looking at my oil life the other day and it said 02%. I said What!!! There is only 2650 miles on her. Then it dawned on me it was going to be Her First Birthday in a couple weeks. So it must keep track of time as well.

Did my First oil Change the following week. Since I had just got my New lift and I have the Track Pack I went looking for oil. Since Ford has gone to there Spec C for the Track cars I was only left with a few company's. I went with Motorcraft and a Ford Filter. Everything went fine. No tick and it was very uneventful. Time to start Driving Her more.

I do believe that the OLM does also use time to determine the OCI because when I was almost at the year mark from when I had changed the oil last, my OLM was at 2% and it told me to change the oil soon.
