For the few that have got to drive a 2011 GT....

However it is very easy to find a nice (used) low milage garage queen c6 w/ls3 lt1 for around 40k if you know where to look (corvette forum). In which the c6 is pretty much unchanged since 08'. (performance wise at least)
To the OP - i would definatly go drive one before you decide you want a vette, it's definatly a different driving experience than any of the other 4 seaters you've driven before. I thought i wanted one until i went and drove one and never thought twice about owning one as a daily driver ever again.
But you have to give respect where it's due and you can't beat the power:weight ratio of the vette.

If you surf a few Vette forums you would see many vendor dealers advertising base c6's(1lt's i think they are0 for 39-42k. Albeit this was a year ago when I was in the market for a used shelby. So yea A new Vette can be had for a very good price not that farr off and in some cases under a well optioned Gt.

Yea I haven't been keeping up with prices since. But still at 45k for a 2010.. That is very close to loaded gt territory. I'm sure there are still some leftover 2009's that need to be cleared out that dealers will deal on if you are patient.. All in all the price of a new loaded Gt puts us all into territory of some pretty nice rides. Either way OP.. Good luck with your choice.

Actually, no. It's nothing like that. It's an impressive difference but it's not night and day. And yes, I own a '10 and drove the '11. But I'm just one opinion.

I test drove a 2010 back in January, so its a little hard to compare. But the 2011 5.0 is FAST. Even with the Auto, it will stick you in your seat and hold you there till 100 or so. First gear is FUN, the auto will bounce off the red line sometimes. I think a tune to firm up the shift points and it would chirp through at least a few gears.
If you get a manual, you are gonna definitely have some serious fun. The last fast car I had was a 2003 Mitsu EVO VIII and the GT definitely seems faster.

A Base Corvette Coupe is under $50,000 MSRP and is a nicer car than a $36,000 Premium / Brembo / Performance Axle Car.
I know I can get a 2010 C6 for around $44,000 and $32,000 for the Mustang (Including Rebates)..
I come up with at least $12,000 difference. If you really can get new 1LT for $39,000 thats one heck of a buy and I would recommend it to anyone.

I think the difference is somewhere in the middle.

Can we leave the corvette talk in the other two threads going on about it right now?
I was shocked to see this thread get back on topic, at least for a few post...thank you guys for that.
Trick 25, I think I am with you..really curious what the two different model years feel like and how much of a difference it really is.
I know it won't be possible until I test drive a 2011, but thought there was some insight here....which there is, so thank you all.

Really? Over 100 hp difference and it's not enough to wow you? Are you sure it's not your subconsciousness telling you that your '10 is comparable so you don't go out and waste some money?

100 HP would surely wow... and I'll drive BOTH the new ones just for giggles... but in real life, if you're not going to the track, how often are you going to see the 'benefit' of 400HP?

Sounds like a few '10 GT owners are now wishing they had waited until the '11 year to get their "muscle." Ford really screwed the '10 owners with the huge jump in HP and torque for 2011 (5.0).... Ford really cares about their loyal owners and it took the Bowtie guys to wake them up!
(But then, again...MT test drove the hot 2011 GT/5.0 with the 3.73s, Brembo brake package, etc. and the sticker price is very close to $40K...$40K for a Mustang GT??? Not too smart Ford).
BTW CG205, I truly love my Mustang...but it still doesn't compare to my '01 C5 Z51 Coupe. No comparison, whatsoever.

Is there an "insecure" emoticon here somewhere?

I see it everyday when merging onto the highway from a packed on ramp. It's also the SOUND! There is nothing like the sound of a V8.

I have a V8 in my F150... blah. I have a V8 in my '82 'vette... OK. Had a V8 in my CTS-V (sold)... nice.
To each his own. That sound wasn't worth thousands of dollars to me. (Plus the cost of gas and insurance.) I'd rather admire everyone elses while I'm eating steak and they're eating Ramen noodles.

I'm eating steak and they're eating Ramen noodles. (Not a judgment on anyone's financial situation - just meant to emphasize my cost savings.)
