For the few that have got to drive a 2011 GT....

Can you comment or provide any details on the driving and feel of the 2011 GT over the 2010 GT?

Thought i would ask, it seems a few have been lucky enough to drive the new 5.0, so what is the difference in you opinion?

I have read a few individual remarks within various threads, but thought it would be nice to have it all in one place.

Thanks...

My guess ... test drive a 4.0 V6 ... and then test drive a 4.6 GT .... that should be a similar comparison of the 4.6 GT to the 5.0 GT ...

Drove the '11 GT last night...one word - AMAZING!!!! :hail:

I drove a '10 a few months back - seriously - not to put down anyone that has a '10, but the 5.0 is insane! The 4.6 never felt like it could get away from me, but the 5.0 could EASILY spin around on you gunnin' it around a corner. The torque on that car makes it a beast. I was tempted to ditch my '11 V6 order, but I figured I would get into too much trouble with the 5.0 :o

Here was my earlier post about it - https://themustangsource.com/showpos...4&postcount=39

I haven't even seen any 5.0's in the DFW area, this sucks! That's awesome that you got to drive one though. I know IT_Guru already has his. Have fun!

that's great to hear!

i have an 03 5speed GT for comparisons sake, it's quick/fast but i hope my expectations on this 2011 aren't too high

my other "toy" is an 01 cbr929 with a full Akrapovic exhaust/airbox mod/Dan Kyle tune, at least 130rwhp and i'm not jaded by that yet

bikes/cars cannot cross compare but i'm hoping this new car is outta control vs what i've driven

NE GT's are dogs. Even an 05 would blow you away.

I know everyone says its like comparing apples to oranges...

BUT

Have you drove a C6 2008+ vette?

if so how would you compare the 2?

I have driven a C5, not a C6 - definitely had the same pull, but the Vette is just a different beast. The 5.0 power is smooth even though it throws you back. The Vette is just all out raw (get the fk outta my way) power. The plus side is you can actually see out of the front of the Stang, unlike the Vette - haha

I'm a Vette lover too - no doubt - but I would be perfectly happy with a 5.0 and save myself about $20k ;)

A nice GT and a nice C6, new, are only around $7k apart in price.

I have not driven a 2011 GT but I have driven the following.
If you will accept an absolute supposition...

2007 Mustang GT
2008 Roush 427R
2008 Corvette Z51
(All Manual Trans)

In my opinion the 2011 Mustang GT will feel about as fast as the 427R.
The 427R is roughy half way in between the 2007 GT and the Corvette

Starting price of a Vette is around $50k - starting price of a GT is $30k

Guess I'm missing something

Yes, you missed the word "nice" in my post you quoted. The $30k GT is severaly lacking in interior quality and features. It is also lacking in brakes. Some people want the car to be well equipped. That's why Ford gives us that option.

I would guess you could get a nicely equipped Vette for mid-50's and a nicely equipped GT for mid-30's. Still not $7k - I would think the GT500 would be the one to compare to the Vette :)

It's not lacking in brakes, it just doesn't have the ridiculously awesome Brembo 14"ers.

If you have the coin - get the Shelby. I guarantee a GT500 will turn a helluva lot more heads than a Vette. I see at least 3 or 4 a week driving around - doesn't really even grab my attention anymore.

HOWEVER - when I see a Shelby I am cranking my neck to check that mutha' out

Sorry, but the C6's interior is pathetic. I'd venture to guess that the "base" Mustang GT's interior is every bit as "nice," if not nicer, than the Corvette's.

I agree

LS3 Vette is about 400 pounds lighter with more HP/TQ with a far more superior drivetrain. Need I say more? A good comparison would be between the LS3 Maro, not a 08+ Vette.
