Exhaust Adjustment???

I just installed some Corsa axle backs, and the driver's side tip seems to come out a little too far. Really, both could be pushed back towards the front of the car a bit.

When I did the install I tried loosening the OTA pipes to push them in, but couldn't get them to move. Is that the proper way to bring the tips further in? Is there some other way? Or is the only way shortening the pipe the tips are connected to?

I'm just wondering if I need to just put some more *** into getting the OTA pipes pushed in more, or if I'm going about it all wrong.

Loosen up the clamps and twist the mufflers a bit. Then re tighten.

Already tried adjusting the mufflers themselves as much as possible. Can't be pushed in any further.

Loosen up the OTAs at the h pipe

There should be some slack there to push them forward toward the front of the car. If not that's as far as they will go.

OK, I guess I'll try again. Was a little difficult with only the rear jacked up, plus I was ready to be done by then.

where the OTAs attach to the H pipe there are these long like 4" sleeve type clamps. They have two nuts each on them. Loosen them all the way. The sleeves will slide forward or backward exposing the joint between the h pipe and ota. If the two pipes are touching when you pull the sleeve away to expose them then the rear pipes cannot move forward any further.

It I bet there is slack. The sleeve clamp acts as a way of adjustment in the exhaust system. You san also get behind the tailpipe and push forward in case the axle back is stubborn and grabbing on the rubber hangers.

Yeah, I loosened that clamp, but perhaps not enough. I'll get it real loose and see how much I can get it to move. Will have to get the garage good and warm tomorrow...it's freakin' cold tonight.

You'll probably have to bend the bar coming off the tip. Had to do this with my exhaust. They move pretty easily with pliers.

Well, the OTA pipes are already as far forward as they can go, so I guess that's that.

Maybe this summer I'll cut the tips and shorten them, if I still feel like they're sticking out too far.

It would look better if you cut the over the axle pipe at the clamp in front, or slide the right side out to match and see if you like it with them both the same.

Joey, sorry to hear the tips weren't lined up. As you know, my horror stories from before, with Borlas, I had to go through 3 of them since they all weren't made the right length! The Corsas were perfect though, so I'm surprised they are off for you. Were your stock tips aligned perfectly to begin with? Or did you not measure? Something tells me the Corsas are the same length and it's your OTA or H pipes that are off.

I would contact Corsa to see what they can do for you before I started cutting anything. The Corsa Extremes I had on my 2011 GT fit perfect with no tweaking FWIW.

Exactly. That's why in my previous post I suspect that something else is off with his other pipes. The Corsas should be perfect from the get-go.

I didn't measure but they didn't look noticeably off.

I mean, I can always pull the one tip out further to line them up, I just prefer to have them sunk back in a bit.

Anyways, this is something I'll reconsider once it's not freakin' cold outside. It was -20*F this morning, NOT good weather for working on cars.
