Engine vibrations
Engine vibrations
Just seen my car today at the dealership. Fresh of the truck with about 3miles on the odo.
Had a chance to start it up and revved a bit.
Spent about 15mins of quality time with my new toy.
Anyway...I found it a bit odd that the engine virbated quite a bit around 1100rpm.
It smoothed out after more throttle, but when I let go of the throttle it vibrated again for bit, as it was coming down.
Basicaly if I hold it at 1100rpm it constantly vibrates. And I think I noticed it at another hihger rpm point.
I'm just coming off a 2007, and that motor was smooth. So not sure if this is normal for the 5.0 engines.
I'm giving it the benefit of a doubt and attributing it to the fact that things still need to get worked in a bit and computer hasnt had a chance to fully learn the driving and RPM range. It does have variable cam timing after all.
Maybe it just needs to learn it's curves.
So my question is. Do you guys recall anything similar, when you first picked up your car?
I'll be going back to the dealer tommorrow to try another V8 and see if I notice the same thing.

I can't recall that happening to when I first got it. But I feel like you should let the computer learn idle and the way you drive. So once the car as well breaks in and it still does that then there is a problem. So I feel its to early to say something is wrong.
There is another thread here (recent) https://themustangsource.com/f726/rough-idle-511877/ that states this same symptom. Other owners of 5.0 say this is normal. Other Mustang forums have posted simular threads, again, all 5.0 owners say this is the same with their Mustangs.
Besides, it's brand new and under warrantee!

Deysha
Had another chance today to rev it through the range.
After the tech finsihed PDI, I checked while it was still warm.
Seems a bit better.
And also checked another Stang with 84km on it. It was barely their, but still slightly noticeble.
So my conclusion here is that the PCM needed to get its routine learned.
And it's just the nature of the beast.
Once I finally get my car this weekend. A long drive or two, or more...will be in order.
I'm sure any issues will popup then.

I would caution from reviing such a new engine all the way.
It's very tight ....it has to work its way in....stop nit picking .... Make sure it's good, and new ...and drive it with some spirit and enjoy that new plastic burn
