Electronics Package Option questions
Is the navigation package something you have to subscribe to, to use it?
Also is the dual heat system controlled by settings to an automatic temp setting or can the temp be controlled manually? I've never had good luck with auto temp settings in previous cars once temps are in the -35's. Too much switching back and forth keeping the windshield clear or feet warm. Would it be better just to leave the EP option in order to keep the standard heating system for extreme cold? Anyone using the dual heat in extreme cold?

The EP is the Navigation, Dual Auto H/A, Hard Drive for Saving music and HD Radio. The only part you have to pay for other than Sync after 3 years is the Sirius, both the Radio and Travel Link if you want to keep them after the 6 month trial are up.
The heat and air are manually controllable also

No subscription needed for Nav, it's just like any other GPS. Never thought the Sat. Radio was worth paying for as the quality from the compressed signal to me sounds flat and worse than cd/FM/mp3. My wife drives her 11GT year round and the heat settings are just fine. The dual zone feature works quite well, and assuming you also get the comfort pkg with heated seats (new 2015 adds cooling to seats!) you should have no problem finding a setting that you like.

I pay for Travelink only - Traffic, Weather, etc .. Sirius Radio sounds like AM radio to me so don't want to waste money on that.. You do have to pay for Map updates ... which I think are like $199 ... but there is no monthly charge for Navigation .. just like a Tom Tom or Garmin.

Hey everyone. I'd like to clear a few things up about navigation. Some vehicles are equipped with a navigation system, which will display maps on the touchscreen in the car. These systems do not have a monthly cost associated with them; however, there are optional map updates released by our software partner, Here. The map updates can be purchased from: www.Navigation.com after plugging in your vehicle's info. If you have questions about a specific update, you can speak to a Here agent by calling 1-888-628-6277.
That being said, we also offer a subscription service called SYNC Services, which is offered through: www.Support.Ford.com to many vehicles in the USA (including vehicles with navigation already installed). Check to see if your vehicle is eligible: https://support.ford.com/tools/account/sync-services One of the features of SYNC Services is Turn-by-Turn Directions, which allows you to download a route to the SYNC system while a mobile phone is connected. You'll hear voice guidance through the speakers until you reach the destination. This is currently priced at $60/year for Ford vehicles. If you're the original owner of your Mustang, you may have received 3 years of services complimentary. I encourage you to check your account!

Thanks for the info, Kim. Kyle & Ken - the Sync in my GT is free. I have a 2011 GT Premium with the EP. I do not pay for Sync - never have. I understand that if I want to update my GPS maps at any time, I may perform an update for additional $ (which I won't do). But basic Sync (voice commands, phone (iPhone, iPad, iPod, etc.) integration, is all free, with no payments...ever.

Realize the thread is getting old, but just wanted to put in a plug for the electronics package- I love mine!
The automatic temp controls work as well as any car I've had, and the touchscreen is very handy and able to be configured into all sorts of customized format (usually keep mine with the map on half the screen, and the radio/climate control on the other half). You can also create a custom picture to put on the left half of the screen (the one I put on my screen is attached below ). The heated seats are a bit on the weak side (wish they were two stage with the current level being "low"). I don't remember if the Pony "puddle lights" on the side view mirrors are part of the Electronics Package, but they get a surprising number of compliments (even from passersby when you're parking at a restaurant... I've had people call me back to the car to turn the lights back on to show spouses).
The SYNC is very cool as well- especially for navigating playlists and other iPod commands. It is definitely pretty slow (due primarily to the stupid voice spelling out the entire command process), so its not that useful for climate controls and such), but it does an admirable job at recognizing the commands, and the cool factor is through the roof.

You may add many pictures. Think of your car's EP (Electronics Package) as a small computer that can store images and music files permanently. Here's how to load your own pictures...
1) On your computer, burn a blank CD disk by copying your image(s). [I know, very old school, CD disk, but that's how the system downloads, it uses CD disk, not USB].
2) In your car, touch the Ford blue oval picture to get into the images section. This is where you can select, delete, or randomize your images.
3) In your car, insert the CD disk, and let the system prompt you to download your files into the car's EP computer. Follow the prompts.
You can see my car's screen here in this picture, I pulled down a few cool images off the internet, edited them a little, then loaded them into my car. You may also use your own picture files (from iPhone, camera, etc.). One thing though, you cannot delete the Ford blue oval image, Ford has that fixed in there. Also, this same procedure goes for music, to load into your car's EP 'Jukebox'. But this is a waste of time to me...the system only can store 10gb. So my suggestion for music is to use the USB port for music - works great.

My Mustang will be 4 years old in May. I've never had or bought an update for my GPS. It still gets me to where i want to go, even to address i know are only a couple years old.

I'm happy to hear you're loving the SYNC system. Follow these steps to get the least feedback from the SYNC voice (Samantha).
1. Press the VOICE COMMAND button on the steering wheel and say VOICE SETTINGS > INTERACTION MODE ADVANCED.
2. Press the VOICE COMMAND button and say VOICE SETTINGS > CONFIRMATION PROMPTS OFF.
If she's ever talking too much, you can interrupt her by pressing the VOICE COMMAND button while she's talking.

I opted to pass on the nav system because of the cost and the need to pay for map updates. I use a Google Nexus 7 tablet and a nav app named SYGIC. I paid just under $100 for maps of the whole world (or at least as much of it as has roads I suspect) and nothing for the app itself. Map and POI updates are free forever. It does a great job allowing multiple waypoints, displaying intelligent lane guidance, and giving turn by turn instructions in your choice of a number of voices in quite a few languages. Since the maps are stored on the tablet, an internet connection is not needed. Here is a shot of my setup. Some of the display has been 'whited' out deliberately.
