drove a new 5.0
i must say i went to the local ford dealership and drove a new stang while mine was having some repair work (strut mount broke) completed. the salesman threw me the keys and told me to take it for a spin... well i did just that and i mean to tell you i drove it like i stole it. i was disapointed it seemed weak. so i returned it and told him that it was very weak. so he threw me keys to another one this one with 3.73 gears. did the same thing. it had alittle more get up and go but still very very weak in comparison to my 06. by the way aside from a few small mods mine is stock... and believe it or not still under warranty.. im very happy with what i have. what do you guys think andot the new 5.0? my openion 400 hp... i could not find it, feel it, or hear it any where on the two i drove.. one was a regular gt and the other was a cs/gt...

I test drove an 11 Conv Auto and I was not very impressed either. At the time I still had my 09 Challenger R/T, six speed. I do belive a tune would make a big difference. I have not driven an 11 six speed.
When I test drove my Shelby I noticed a huge difference right away

The 5.0 that I drove back when they 1st came out was a manual w/3.73's. It felt completely different than my '09 w/4.10's & a FRPP (back then) tune. The 5.0 pulled a LOT harder through 2nd, 3rd, & 4th. I didn't go any further than that, but I was definitely impressed.

I drove a buddies gt500, kinda was disappointed too...under 3000(where street cars live most of the time) it felt like my car- at 4k its a frickin jet, but the horsepower up there cannot be legally enjoyed- at the track hp is hp, but on the street everyday Id take torque any day...a smog 250 hp bigblock might be slower at the track, but in day to day driving 400 ft lb off idle would be a pure joy to drive...
after driving that gt500, my want for a blower has waned a lot...similar money could put a bigblock in there, and I think with a little time stuff like hydraulic cam advance, CMCVs, and a port injection intake could be fabbed up to utilize all the new controls...wouldnt that be a hoot. aside from the extra 300+ pounds up front making it handle like crap, it would definitely peg the butt meter off idle

I agree I test drove a new 2011 Mustang GT and I wasn't impressed chassis was much stiffer but the clutch was way to soft and had no feel and the shifter was completly vague so over all it was just softer but with some upgrades I can see a monster

Exactly. These new GTs are so smooth and quiet, that they fool you. The numbers don't lie, the cars are very fast; they just don't feel as fast as they are. If I don't constantly pay attention, I'm speeding. I use the cruise control all the time, that way I'm not fixating on the speedo.

Aftermarket gear install?
Also, I think the OP is another person who has been decieved by the 2011. They apparently seem much slower than they actually are.

I drove Overboost's 2011 5.0 and I definitely found the 412hp. I got to drive it hard and on fast and twisty roads near the GM proving grounds in Milford, MI. The 2010+ are a very refined variant of fast, that's why it's hard to notice at the seat of the pants. My 2010 has a similar feel, but the 5.0 definitely pulls stonger in the upper RPM's and it keeps pulling like a freight train as long as your foot is in the floor. It's more than just the engine though, the suspension and brakes are very impressive especially in the twisties. I got out with a big grin on my face.

The new 5.0's felt weak compared to your 2006 GT?! Do you have a Whipple sitting atop your engine or something? Coming from a 2007 Mustang GT, I can tell you that there is a huge difference between the 3V 4.6L and the new 5.0L in terms of power and torque.

I don't see how you can't notice the difference, my car goes like a rocket compared to my buddy's 08, there is just NO comparison.
