Stay away from any post to do with a 2010 plus thread! Your old news and so is your information! Every post about a 5.0 engine or car oh have something negative to say about it....everybody has an opinion but everyone also knows that the 2011 is better and improved in every way. Stay on your 05-09 forums where you belong

When you are owner of TMS you can make that rule.

I will post on any thread I choose.

Actually I was refering to the cast iron 4.6 mod based 5.0 block Cdy, I checked the FRPP website and it didn't mention either way about an oil circuit for the cam phasers in the 3v heads.

The CI block can be poked out to 322 or 324 cubic inches (IIRC 324 is with a .010 overbore) which would be great with FRPP's stage II heads and the new intake, cams and full exhaust if somebody was looking to go NA and keep the 4.6 mod based architecture.

The only down side I can think of (provided the CI block is 3v compatible) is the less than ideal combustion chamber of the 3v heads which make them more detonation prone compared to Fords 4v heads of all types.

Welcome to the wonderful world of hotrods, I've never met a single person that didn't take a bath rodding thier car unless they were just flat out dishonest.

Heh, if the 05-09 rear is the J. Lo booty of the automotive world then the 10+ rear end is the Kim Kar.... err Vida Guerra of Mustangs. When Ford added the hips to the 2010+ cars they had to use a vew visual tricks to make the rear fascia look slimmed down. Paint the rear all one color and you will see what I'm talking about. Ford did a similar treatment with the 07-09 GT500's by using black plastic rocker moldings and the fake diffuser on the lower rear fascia.

Gotcha.

So you might be able to use the 3v heads if you choose, but need lockouts?

Thats what I'm thinking, hopefully I will stumble on the info or I have it sitting around in an old 5.0 or MMFF article.

I really do think the new 5.0 is hands down the best engine to come out of Ford in a very long time - oh hell, its the best **** engine they have ever made period (and that includes the 351 Cleveland, Boss 302, 427 Cammer and Boss 429) but the idea of building a 4.6 sized 3v that is nearly the same displacement as the 5.4 is pretty compelling to me especially if somebody wants naturally aspirated 5.0 coyote power without having to splice and dice in an engine controller or having to fab any number of engine brackets.

Some people might consider the CI block a detriment, but alot of people also consider the 2000 Cobra R with its iron block and aluminum 4v heads one of the best handling Mustangs to have ever come out.
