Does anyone else not give a **** about a fancy shmancy interior?

Never owned a Mustang before in my 47 years. By pure happenstance I was able to test drive a '10 GT Premium with the 401A.

A few months later I bought my 1st 5.0, a 2011 'vert and the 401A interior was most of the reason why. I LOVE that interior!!

Not to totally bash the non-premium interior tho. I actually like the cloth seats, but I gotta have my heated seats, and Ford dictates that they must be leather to get that feature. But as stated above, the non-Premium steering wheel is a total fail. It's not much different from the steering wheel on my Poulan lawn tractor.

I don't care for a fancy interior. I'm right at home in an SN95, and even more so in my '91 F150. It's got power locks and windows, clear gauges, amazing visibility and a cloth seat that has lasted 162,000 miles and is more comfortable than my living room couch

Finally the Mustang gets an interior to stop the bleeding. The European and Asians were killing us. I find it quite important to develop a car with a modern interior with a nice layout. I guess if you do not care for such an optioned interior then go for the basic interior (or check out the Camaro). Just imagine how many Ford sales would be lost to the other manufacturers if interior quality and features were not addressed. I would have a Boss Mustang here right now if I could get it optioned like my V6 or a GT. So yes some people care about interiors. Compare to a couple of nice Euro interiors.

I do not care that much about interiors (after all, I drive a 1996 T-Bird ), but the Mustang's Premium interior is just wow. It's so beautifully layed out and looks awesome, with the perfect blend of retro and contemporary touches.
Both the Camaro and the Challenger look strange/ugly or plain in comparison.

And I think that BMW interior's are ugly nowadays as well. Yes they are high quality of course, but the pics above make me wanna
Go back ten years and you see beautiful BMW interiors with perfect layouts. They literally reached the end IMHO, there was nothing left to improve, only make it different and, as a result, worse.

I agree with this, i was cross shopping my 2010 with the 335 and G35. I think really the only thing they missed was not using the same soft plastic from the dash board on the door panels. I love the interior quality of my buddies 328i, and the fit in my mustang honestly is pretty similar and most of the finish. i just feel the door panels hard plastic is very noticeable compared to the rest of the interior. Idrive and the ford nav is really a coke/pepsi choice do you like a touch screen or click wheel to control things.

A good layout is, well, good. However, just like some people want an interior with upgraded materials and all the electronic doodads, some people don't. In the case of the Boss, the fancy interior and electronics shouldn't be an option. It shouldn't be available with an automatic transmission, either. (A DSG/DCT/PDK, maybe, but no slushbox). If you want a cheap M3, go with the premium GT. If you want a cheap M3 GTS, which means Alcantara and fewer doodads and luxuries, go with the BOSS.

I have to say I don't care about it one bit. I thought I would after a while, but no. The car drives the same, I like cloth seats personally and base is the only way I could get them. Butt warmers not necessary and my radio is almost never used.

We have a 2010 GTI also, which has a really bad *** interior. I guess i'm spoiled, but the 400a and 401a doesn't even come close to this:

One look at the porsche panamera interior and one realizes what an interior can and should be. I really enjoy the interior of my 2011 mustang. If it were nicer, I would enjoy it even more. The interior can never be too nice.

I try really hard not to bash anyone else on this forum, but I have to call this one. Looks like an unremarkable econobox interior to me. Maybe it looks better in person? Not trying to attack personally or anything, but I am just not seeing how it's superior to a 401A at all.

It's just personal preference. I nearly bought a GTI a couple years ago and one of it's strong points was the interior. The seats are great, the design functional, simple, and not flashy. The steering wheel is great as well. I'm not bashing the premium GT interior, but it's just not my thing. The leather seats are very squishy, even my wife commented on that. Theres just a lot going on. I much preferred the interior/seats/wheel on the BOSS to the premium GT. I want my car's interior to seamlessly enhance the act of driving, not necessarily look cool or distract from the act of driving.

No offense taken. Go sit in one, you will probably change your mind about it. Everything has a quality feel to it, real metal and soft touch everywhere. The seats and steering wheel are amazing, and the glove box is air conditioned if you need it. Hell, even the door pockets are carpeted (woo hoo).

European cars on average have a feeling of quality that Americans (despite their best efforts) have yet to fully duplicate.

Don't get me wrong, I bleed ford blue most of the time. I love my mustang, but the upgraded interior did not sell me by a long shot.

The GTI's interior is universally praised by all the car mags, even the ones that criticize it for being underpowered.

Agreed I like my 06 stang interior way more than that.. Way more. I think this is kind of a hard topic because first under-dressed exists and so does over dressed.. And people's preference varies between those lines everyone admit it or not likes comfortable seats, what ever suits your buttcheeks right? Some like nice speakers some don't, some like leather some like cloth some like ambient lighting some don't some like to put alittle custom work some don't.. You get the point... And if you don't like fancier interiors I don't care go buy the base model if you do awesome go get premium...

The 05-09 interior are so ugly only a mother would love. The 10+ are much nicer but still not in the same class as German and Japanese cars. 10 years ago i would not consider American cars because of how crappy the interiors are.

That's why nobody cares about your opinion. And so far everyone who has ever ridden In my 06 seems to be pretty fond of it. So you can go ahead and join a Honda forum or somewhere you fit in better

I didn't mind the design of the '05-'09 interior (I almost bought one) but I felt the quality of materials wasn't that great. The 2010+ is an improvement in design and quality, IMO, (just about on par with my 370Z I think) but could still stand to be much better. I really dislike the plastic door panels... they are quite a cheap addition to what otherwise would be a largely fantastic interior!

Haha agreed, I don't know why he would hop on a mustang forum and talk bad about them. All mustangs are a beautiful thing in there own way if you don't understand it you have two options.. Learn it or leave the forum haha

Agreed they went a little cheapo on the material but it's still good looking but really why isn't leather an option.. How dumb! I might someday take everything apart and learn some upholstery and make it leather myself

The Katzkin leather kits are actually pretty good if they are installed properly, so that's an option.
