Do you think it's bad to hit the rev limiter cutoff?

Have heard the same - I'd be interested to see what kind of testing Ford did to high RPM's and what others have done with raising the rev limiter and driving very hard.
Have seen the Boss's rev to ~8500... I'd probably take mine to 7500-7600 redline if I pick up a Boss intake manifold... in time, I think 420hp will be just fine for a while.

I admit I have done this a few times in the year I've had my 12 GT vert. First time was when I was being taunted by a 911. It's so true how quickly and smoothly the 5.0 revs and with no signs of strain. When watching the road forgetting to shift in time just happens. I am learning to tame the beast. The last MT I had was in an '86 GTI and while that was fun, it is just no comparison to this amazing machine!

Is there a way to adjust when this kicks in? When I first got my 2013 I swore I could hit 7000 RPM and the gauges would light up. Now I can only get to ~6800. Not sure how the rev limiter got turned on. The only time the car has been out of my site was when I got the oil changed by the dealer. Would they have turned this on?

In the lower gears, the tach probably lags just a bit so it looks like 6800 is limiter, it really should be 7k... I have noticed in 1st and 2nd if I watch the tach looking to shift at 7k I hit the limiter. I have been shifting at indicated 6500 or so, which is probably more like 6700-6800 in those short gears. Going to take me a while to get used to this engine as it just keeps making more and more power.
When I test drove my friends Boss, I did the exact same thing - bounced off the limiter in 3rd because it was still pulling harder and harder. I'm used to my old car that started dying off after 6k RPM even though redline was 6800... Love how this car revs

I agree, it really should be 7k. Here is something else I did. I put the car in engineering mode. Then set it so I could see the digital tack. While in neutral I slowly rev the eng. till the limiter hits. Then I can basically floor it. The digital gauge dances around 6800 rpm and never gets to 7k. The red lights do not turn on.

They have some recommendations for GT500 setup based on driving events (which I believe also fits the GT Brembo setup), and one of my co-workers who is also a BMW driving school instructor recommended them to me. He said they worked remarkably well on his CRX race car.

Hey dmichaels, unrelated question, but I noticed you're planning to use pagid pads. Which ones, RS19, RS29 or others? Also are you planning on swapping them before and after track days, or also using them for your daily drives? I'd be interested to hear about your planned setup. Thanks!

For the Mustang, I'm going with one of Pagid's new compounds, the RST-2, for the front pads and the RS56 for the rear. I'll likely leave the RS56's on all the time and just switch out the RST-2's on the fronts as needed. Although I have been less than impressed with the stock Brembo pads (probably because I'm used to very grippy pads...)
My friend with a Boss 302 LS uses this setup (with the same Brembo brakes as my car) and has had excellent success. He likes the RST-2's a bit more than the RS19's and RS29's, although those are also fantastic pads. I probably won't put the pads on for another month or so, but I'm sure I'll post my review once I get them on, bedded, and put a few miles on.
I'll be sure to check out that site to see what some others are using. The GT Brembo's use the 2007-2010 GT500 brake setup as I understand (355mm rotors, 4 piston calipers).
