To each his own. I loved the 2005 when I saw it. I think they could have done more with the quarters and rear but I would rather have the 2005-2009 rear than the new one. I love the hips. Hood is cool. The smoothed fender flares are more "euro". Front end looks a little squinty but I like it. The black plastic rear and other trim needs to go. To me, black plastic is something that belongs on a 1995 BMW 3 series or jeep grand cherokee. Not sure why ford thinks it looks good or quality. It fades through the years, gets dingy, hard to keep normal wax off of it. They cleaned up the black mirror housings and changed a bunch of other trim to black plastic.
New interior is nice, I liked the 4 round vents but I can see the later vintage retro theme.If I did not have a 2006, I would have bought a 2011 in a heartbeat and loved every inch of it.
With that said, a lot of people traded in their 1967 corvettes for the "new" 1968 body style. Both are nice, both are corvettes, but the 63-67 cars will always be iconic in terms of desirability.

always said if I could go back in time I'd store away a 69 fastback- well, this was as close to that ever happening as I'll ever get- it aint no time machine, but if the 06 (and I ) last 20 years or more it could be...and if the 06 outlasts me, thats fine too, the wife and kids will have a nice undriven mustang to enjoy/auction/whatever...I know it wont store perfectly, but anything that deteriorates wont amount to much.
a lot of folks loved the 05, a lot loved the 10...whatever model trips your trigger, my wish would be that everyone enjoys their cars as much as I do my 06 - I'd be content driving this car the rest of my life, even if I lived to be 100
theres faster cars, theres more luxurious cars, but since I started driving, I havent seen one before or after that I liked to look at as much as the 05- plus it sounds great, handles great, comfortable, reliable, easy on gas, etc...maybe the 2014 will look better to my eyes, but then too- what will it cost...I'm guessing by then a base gt will be nearly 40k

I think so. I had a 2008 because I did not like the spy renderings of the next Mustang. Now that I have a 2011, I love it so much more then the 2008. The rear just looks right. Actually it looks like a completely diffrent car unless you dont know mustangs.

Saw a beautiful 2006 Screaming Yellow GT at a cruise-in tonight. Until Screaming Yellow and Vista Blue are offered, the 2010-2011 will actually be MORE boring (to look at) than the 2005-2009s. My opinion.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Still love the looks of the 05-09 model year... heck, I still love the looks of the 99-04 models... still hot! Always wanted one, never got one... but in about 10 days (hopefully) this will change!My dad has an 06 and as soon as my 11 arrives, we will take them both out for some pics... can't wait!

Both are superb looking cars. I honestly don't know where the hatin' comes from. For me, you can clearly see the historical styling transition between the cars. The '05-'09 brings to mind the '65-'66 cars, the '10+ focuses on the '67-'68 changes......more shark-like front end, more defined hips, concave rear end....effectively a more honed, chissled look.
Is a '65 better looking that a '68? Obviously it's just personal opinion, but with hindsight both a superb designs. Same goes for the current argument. I, at least, can see where the designers got their inspiration from the cars of the mid to late 60s.
For what it's worth, in my opinion, whether it's an '05 or an '11, both can benefit from a lowered stance and bigger wheels.
But, whether is an '05 rental V6 or a fully loaded '11 5.0 both instill a passion in me that no other car can.

Show mw a honda that looks any thing like it? Its more streamlined and sportsy looking. Nothing on the car looks japanese. I loved the 2005-2009 since before it came out. Hit every car show looking at it before it was released. I loved it up until I really looked at the new car. Its not that I hate it now but I definitely prefer the new car in every way.

Show mw a honda that looks any thing like it? Its more streamlined and sportsy looking. Nothing on the car looks japanese. I loved the 2005-2009 since before it came out. Hit every car show looking at it before it was released. I loved it up until I really looked at the new car. Its not that I hate it now but I definitely prefer the new car in every way.

I was just at the 2010 Sturgis Mustang Rally. They had approximately 500+ Mustangs at the show, and 430 at the Show & Shine. I honestly am still amazed at the reaction all of these cars get from people. It really doesn't matter what year or style, they loved them all. And, they are a generation blender, young and old, all talking with each other about the Mustangs.
I was very lucky and took 1st place in the 2007-2011 California Special category, but what made the whole rally for me was a little boy dragging his mother by the hand, pointing at my car, and telling her, "that's the car, mom" over and over. He then stood beside it while she took his picture.
That's what this is all about, keeping the love of these cars, no matter the year, alive so these kids will remember and appreciate them as they grow up. I have never seen a Mustang I didn't like, I just like some more then others
