The potential problems is a turn-off and the potential increase isn't worth the wait. By the time it does come out, I'll be ready for a Whipple or TVS upgrade.

The product may have been designed with it in mind and not used, or for use in the future, or even not at all.
Does it really matter?

Are you seriously going to hold out on a kickin' 2011 GT to gain a slight bump in HP?
seriously?
That's just dumb.

Do not read any articles from TTAC this year. It's possible that next year the articles will be better.

To me the telling sign is that the new Boss 302 won’t have DI, at least based on the plethora of detailed product info now available. That’s my signal that if you’re waiting for DI, you’ll need to wait until at least the 2013 MY. So go have fun driving your Camry biding your time while I enjoy my 412 horses (easily upgraded to a DI-equating 450 hp with a simple intake and tune).

I doubt we'll see a DI Ford 5.0L any time soon...

Not hard for me, TTAC is by far the worst car blog/mag on the internet IMHO, and I've seen some pretty bad ones. I do plan, on the other hand, to buy a new Mustang next year, but whether or not it has DI will have no bearing on my purchase.

Werd my brother, it's going to be sweet. Direct injection for the redesign. I'm in.

I agree with the article. If the possibility of an improvement in coming model years can sway you that much, don't buy the car. It will shorten the wait for the rest of us that really want a new Mustang.

It's been my experience that those who profess to have the truth, rarely do.

That's okay - the 5.0 is so good, it's worth paying to drive it for 2 years while waiting for the DI version

I'm sure I'd be happy with either! Never before have I been so pleased with a vehicle in stock form.

Talking blah blah blah

I would say about 95% of '11 5.0 buyers knew DI might be added down the road. I'm glad they didn't use DI yet. One less thing to worry about in a new engine and hearing about the carbon build up in some DI engines is scary. The correct way to do DI is have port injection in conjunction with direct injection, like used in the Lexus IS F 5.0 V8. The funny thing is the Coyote 5.0 makes only 4 less HP ( Rated ) and 29 more torque ( rated ) compared to the Lexus 5.0, with the "disadvantage" of not using DI and .5 less compression.

But didn't most of us wait for the 2011? I know I did.

Ford already said they tried DI on the 5.0 and it wasn't worth the cost for the gains. We knew it was capable of it.

I say the GT500 gets a Ecoboost 5.0 then they can use the direct injection holes and a couple snails on the side of the engine!

I think i'll trade my V-6 Mustang for the faster and with higher gas mileage V-6 Camaro because it has DI. Oh wait......................
