Dent in drivers side MID pipe

I was washing the car today and was spraying underneath it and noticed that my left side MID pipe has a about a 4 inch flattened dent in it? Has any one else noticed this on there cars. I will be taking it in the to the dealer because the dent will change the flow of the exhaust.

Thanks

Ok that makes me feel so much better, thank you JimmyM, because if the car was run into something I don't know if that would have been all that was wrecked I might not of stumbled on the other pieces yet, until i was able to put it on a hoist.

Just had my first oil change, and the mechanic pointed out the dent and told me I must have bottomed out. Since I never did, I am glad I am not the only one with this dent.

I have it as well. One would think if you bottomed out that both would have dents?.?.?.

There've been a few threads on this ... the resonators are the same on both sides, just upside down on one side. Ford says they needed the clearance against the fuel tank so they made it flatter like that.
If they installed both with the flattened part aiming up, none of us would probably ever know about this "dent"

Yep - mine too. Noticed the first time I had it up on jackstands, when my car had less than 100 miles on it. Seeing as how it's many of us, it must be happening as the car is coming off the assembly line.

hUH? wHAT?

It's not a DENT, it's a FEATURE, at least according to Ford.
Read my post just above. It's done for clearance against the fuel tank

they do that to help reduce or eliminate exhaust drone.. That is why it is only on one side.

Is this normal for the V6s too, or is this only on the GTs?

for those that got rid of it, how did you do it and did you notice any difference?

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out!

Had a shop cut them out and installed a section of pipe. $80..... I have the gt 500 mufflers and it made them sound a bit meaner....louder.....and some pop when down shifting. A great sound made better.

I have a set of Dynomax Race Bullets with a 3" midpipe included, which just slips right on the H if you are interested. That way you don't have to worry about that flat spot anymore. Here is the sale:

Haha, I saw the dent when I had the car on ramps. The car had about 500 miles at the time. I figured someone had bottomed it out getting off the shipping truck or something.

Very interesting...

Again, both sides are the same part, they just install one upside-down for additional room next to the fuel tank

These are mine after they were cut out :
