Delay Explained (or so I heard)

Wasn't getting far with the dealer, so I called the Ford customer service line. The guy I spoke to said they couldn't decide which cars to ship first -- special customer orders or dealer stock.

He claimed that they've decided to ship our orders first, so we don't abandon the orders and just buy from what's on the lot.

I'm not sure that his information is correct . . . just passing it along.

They didn't let them pile up on the AAI lot because they couldn't figure out what to ship first....

Like I said . . . sounds odd to me. But with info being scarce round these parts, I figured I'd pass on what I heard.

My money is still on one of the cars being built on 4/20 got an extra 'package' that Ford doesn't offer. So for the past few days the line worker who lost his package was searching each car in the lot for it.

I'll look for it in my car when it's delivered

This sounds far-fetched at first... but actually make some sense if you think about it. Especially if somebody at Ford is reading posts on the Internet about how people are working themselves into a tizzy over when their car is coming.

Did they put early incentives on the '11? Maybe ones that will expire in 7 days?

Early incentive? Yep! $2000.00 discount! It was on the Canadian website for about the last two weeks in March. And there is no hold on Canadian cars because of the metric speedometers.

Reminds me of an old Dilbert strip where Dogbert decided to become a used car salesman and was telling some schmuck that this one car used to belong to a Columbian diamond smuggler, and it corners sluggishly, almost like there were weights hidden in the door panels... haha

If they are going to come up with a lie, you'd think they'd at least come up with one that wasn't quite so laughable! Can you imagine -- a bunch of Ford executives walking around in circles with their heads in their hands for two weeks, saying "I'm so confused -- which ones should we ship first?"

Perhaps they grew tired of deciding whether to fish or cut bait, so they wanted to try something different.

That customer service guy must have been a former car salesman. It seems like many dealerships have as rule number one "If the customer asks a question you don't know the answer to, just make something up."

Nope, he's the same guy that worked at that pizza place and then switched to Ford customer service.

Like I said, it seemed like a goofy reason. But I know very little about the internal deliberations of an automaker.

AND . . . I've seen synagogues and non-profits get hung up on stupider arguments!
