Boomer, I don't think I can take any more. If you have something to say, just say it. Otherwise keep your darn mouth shut. It is seriously killing me knowing there is so much good news out there yet to come, and I don't know about it!! Grrr!!!

Alright, my rant is over. I was just kidding Boomer, you may continue to taunt us I suppose....even though it is completely inhumane torture.

425hp for the Boss tune maaaaaaybe, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. So I guess that means all 2011 GT500s will have to be Super Snakes now just to keep ahead of the GT?

468 hp @ the crank or rwhp? Hard to believe rwhp as this would bring the rating to over 500 hp. Not very believable do you think? If this is true i do not think Ford will have a tough time selling '11's ugly *** end and all.

If it's true I can't wait for a crate motor of the coyote to stick in my 69.

It would have to be crank hp but I dont believe it. At least not in a production engine. The potential may be there but it will never see a production car imo. I have moaned and whined for years for Ford to step up to the plate with some competitive power and it looks like they are finally going to do it. All of these rumors are giving me chest pains now. I sure hope we are not setting ourselves up for a big let down.

Can you imagine them telling us the 5.0 will make 340hp/350 ft lbs after all of this???? There are an awful lot of people who say 400 will never happen. I just dont know what to think.

I think this would be true if the competition was not there like in the past. But with Camaro and now Challenger announcing upping their hp Ford can not just get away with slapping in a 340hp engine.
On top of having a luke warm welcome of the updated body style they really need to inject something great to get the Mustang enthusiasts blood pumping again. 340 hp in that body style would not do to much for sales as 425 hp will. They need to give us a real reason to want to trade in out past Mustangs for a new one and sell some cars.

The 468hp is on an engine dyno, meaning that the engine was run with no accessories, trans and probably no cats.
I'm coming up with 375RWHP @ a 20% drive train loss.

If anybody feels that my math is off please correct me, I do think that the 375 is a bit high.

Well, don't forget the 2010 GT500 has the 540bhp that was the preserve of the 2009 KR, so I guess anything's possible

Let me ask you something Boomer. I just watched a vid today on Car and Driver's site where they tested the 435HP 427R. I'll just discuss the straight line performance. 0-60 in 4.7 and 1/4 in 13 flat. The current GT tested by the same source (not the same day, of course) does 4.9 and 13.6.

So, logically the alleged 400HP '11 will be somewhere between the two, correct? I don't think I'd kick myself too much over that.

Unless you are talking about an SE...??

Here's a question for you: According to the above statement, if YOU were going to be buying a new Mustang, what model year would you be waiting for? Would it be a 2011 or something beyond that.

There will always be something better coming in the future. You could wait for the 2027 MY if you want...

I think what he is aluring to is that the new 5.0 is gona be a kickazz motor, and he may know of some other addition that will come along with it (bigger brakes perhaps, or a hardtop convertible, etc.)
