Central point for jacking front?

Whats up guys, i need to do some exhaust work on my 13' gtcs so im purchasig a low profile jack (lowered on pro kit) I already have a few jackstands. I know how to jack one side at a time but can anyone recommend a central jacking point to elevate both sides of the front end at the same time? And maybe a good place to put my stands? Im a little paranoid so i imagine ill use a cinderblock or something as a back up failsafe if my jackstands were to fail. If anyone can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate it! Ive been searching for a few hours and can't find a central point.. If one exists.

The only central point in the front I've heard of anyone using is the center of the K member. But it's tough to get a jack that far under the car, especially if lowered. You would need to drive up on some ramps or 2 x 12's first to gain enough clearance for the jack.

Center of the K and then use the pinch welds on either side with your jack stands.

I had a similar question. I have been using the "knife edge" just behind the side skirt to jack each side at a time. I know there are other acceptable places to put a jack or jack stands on the uni-body, but I don't know where exactly. And I'm a little afraid to try. Is there any pictures or graphics to show acceptable locations?

The pinch welds/notches in the plastic are the right spot but you'll want either these (http://www.zl1addons.com/index.php/p...ck-pads-detail) or this (http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...FUcV7Aodn1UAkg) to prevent damaging the pinch welds.

Look at the links I just posted above - you need them.

Your pinch welds won't crush. They may crinkle a bit but people have been supporting vehicles on pinch welds forever.

Niice. Thanks for the tip. I'm definitely picking up one of these.

Not necessarily. Third gen F-bodies are notorious for mangled pinch welds - and bowed out fenders - due to jacking on the pinch weld. Mine were that way and I had to have the pinch welds fixed, bringing the fender back into alignment.

While the factory may say it's ok to jack on a 1/16" wide pinch weld, I see no reason not to place the jack under the K-member, and put the jackstands under the subframe. Can't go wrong supporting a car by the subframe.
