on a bugatti or am SLR yes i can see it but on this car (a mustang) it's kind of silly IMO.
I'd feel like a tool (actually I'd feel like the entire crasftman section at Sears) every time it popped up when I came to red light or slowed for a turn from a massive 40mph.
At least the SLR and Veyron have the mind bending performance to back up the wacky looks of an airbrake.
EDIT: Ahh i see in the comments they say it has a switch on it.. still toolish if you aske me.

they actually work if you use them for what they are meant to be used, like track days
Agent 47 has had a functional spoiler for years now, but theirs isnt an air brake it is for downforce in turns so it isnt activated by the brakes nor comes up as steep

Interesting, wonder how well it actually works (numbers?). My guess is that its down force effect might be more significant than any actual braking effect.
Certainly not so silly as totally fake spoilers, hood scoops, ducts and other "performance" cod pieces adorning Mustangs. at least this thing is trying to be a serious, functional enhancement.

I think it is slick as hell; shows what a company like CDC can do- I like the thinking "out of the box" on this one...agreed they should offer it whether it its functional or not- looks very clean- great for the new shape on the 2010.
more for downforce than brakes though..

it's called the Agent 47 A-Wing
The options associated with the wing:
Raise wing for increased downforce, traction and stability in corners
Lower the wing for decreased drag in high speed straights
Driver controls the downforce and drag
Factory wings do not know when you are in a corner or on a straight
Rapid pneumatic wing not slow like factory wings, Less than one second actuation
Lower the wing for drifting or increased oversteer
Fixed wings designed for downforce will also increase drag, significantly lowering top speed
Air Compressor, Reservoir, and Shift **** with control buttons included
Designed with the aid of Aerospace and
racing aerodynamicists
Typical installation time 6 to 8 hours

I think it rocks as well, but I'd rather see a spoiler that lifts at speed. Porsche, Chrysler and VW had them at one time or another.
