Which Mustang to get?

I will be buying a Mustang GT in the next couple months. I currently drive a 2007 Alloy GT Auto. I have gone through some driving courses and have learned how to control a 300+ hp car. I an in a dilemma though. I have narrowed it down to 3 choices. I originally wanted to get an 09 GT500 but have come to the realization that a 500 hp car is not something that is really needed for someone as young as I am. Here are my options:

1. 2009 Grabber Orange GT premium
2. 2010 Grabber Blue GT premium
3. 2011 Grabber Blue GT 5.0

The 09 has great rebates and there is always the aftermarket. I really like the body style and 300 hp is more then enough for a DD. Aftermarket is there if I want more power but I don't want to become "power hungry." The 1st gen. S197 seems like it will be a classic down the road.

The 10 has the same power plant and I know it is tried and true. I wouldn't have to worry about any new engine worries. Interior is the main reason I would want a 10. Love the 10 overall design and the back is not that bad in person.

The positive with either one of these cars is that I could have them within a week or 2 or walking into the dealership.

Now with the '11 the new 5.0 and 6 spd will be out. I really don't need 400 hp in a car but would love to have it just for bragging rights. Everyone will be waiting for the 5.0 and I don't want to buy an 09 or 10 and be like why didn't I wait for the 5.0

315 is more than enough hp for me in a DD but I would love for the 5.0 w/tp 2 and a 6 spd.

What would you all do? Thanks

how about u wait for the 5.0 to hit dealership lots, and if theres a few available and a 2010 with the 4.6 available how about u test drive both the 4.6 and 5.0 and see which u like better. i dont really know if any 4.6's would still be on lots by then but if they are, u could try that.

I don't want to wait til the summer but it would be better to test drive the 5.0 like you said. This would be the better option so I could get a feal for the car. I just don't want any problems with the new drivetrain.

I still might get a 500 but I just don't see needing 500 hp in a DD. Thanks though. There are still plenty of 500s out there so its not like I need to get one right away. That is still a very good price for that kind of car.

Why be in such a rush if you already have an 07GT? If I were you I'd wait to test out the 5.0 first

I'm not really sure why you would spend thousands more on a car that is so close to what you're already driving (2010)???

Even IF the 5.0 turns out to be 400hp (yes I am still one of the stubborn skeptics), why not just slap a S/C on your current car and a few cosmetics for way less???

Sorry, I'm one of those people who will probably never buy a brand new car (even if I have the money). It just never seems worth it to me.

Even better, just wait until the 2011 comes out, and the 2010s will be a bargain. The money you save in comparison to a brand new 2011 could be used to make it just as quick, and more unique.

My local dealer still has 2 or 3 new 09's on their lot.

If you've got the bug , the 2010 is a nice way to go.It is certainly an improvement on the 05-09 models. I did and I'm quite happy with mine !

Don't buy an '09 since you already have an '07. You don't sound like max hp is your #1 priority, so I'd say get the '10 and save a lot of money vs waiting for the '11. If you later feel the need for more hp, the aftermarket is very rich with goodies for our cars.

Tho, if you would an 09...Have you maybe considered getting a used Roush from the 08-09? With under 5,000 miles you can get them for around 35k give or take, Example. But as hp isn't the main priority, you'll be able to get a 2010 pretty reasonably I'd say.

Forgot the backstory. This car is actually my dad's. He had a '99 35th anniversary GT that we lost in hurricane Katrina. We bought this car march 08. He is waiting for me to buy a car so he can get his mustang.

Very good points which is why Im trying to wait until the LA auto show for concrete details.

Oh I see, well then you are in a difficult position lol.

I'd at least wait till the LA auto show for concrete 5.0 info then make your decision. You really can't go wrong no matter what you pick

I don't think there will be any bargains on the 2011....in fact, with all the hype, there will probably be dealer markups. I'd lean towards a 2010 for the improvements you mentioned. I've actually seen some on Autotrader.com already with low miles for a steal. Here's one in my neck of the woods for example......

At this point anything but a 2011 is a mistake.

Sure, you could get a 2010 GT...

Or you can get a 2011 V6 with just a little less power, better mpg, and significantly less weight...

Or you could wait and see what is in store for the 5.0 within 1 more week...

After seeing the specs on the V6 I will be getting a 2011 GT. Can't wait for Ford to release the details. Hurry up.

So you say that 300HP is more than enough for a person your age, then the next day you say the 300+HP V6 got you excited...and you will be getting a 2011 GT? Why not just go for the V6? It has 300+HP and sounds like exactly what you were wanting.
