Buying advice on a Boss 302

Good day,

I am considering purchasing a new 2013 302. GHIG with Recaros and an MSRP of 45,960. No trade-in. Looking for opinions on what would be a good, realistic price before taxes and fees. Do I have any bargaining power? Or is impossible to get anything less than MSRP on this car? I was quoted 44k over email. Thank you.

Best times to go car shopping are at the end of the month, the end of the quarter, or the end of the year. All of these times are good times due to the dealership, or sales people having to make their numbers. Boss's might not see a drop like normal cars will due to the fact that they are specialty cars.

Bring print outs of other Boss's in your area or even up to 100 miles away from you as a bargining chip. It will help your case if you can show the dealership "hey there is another Boss that I like 20 miles farther from you that is cheaper. Why should I buy from you?" Also there is an article linked below that is GREAT reading. Its a guy that worked at both a large dealership that pushed, and a smaller dealership that didnt push. Going in knowing what the sales people are thinking will help you alot. You will be able to see what tricks they use to raise the price, or get you to spend more money than you want to spend.

Read this ^. I read it before I purchased me '11 and it saved me alot of money. Remeber information is your friend! Know your credit score, know the KBB/Value of the car, know if there are more around that you can go and look at.

Good luck!

Matthew

When buying a more exclusive or "Special" car like the Boss the dealers will almost always try to overcharge. Might serve you well to find examples of the Boss you want at another dealer for less. Use that as a bargaining leverage like so...

"I found the same car at "Dealer name" for $2000 less and I can have it shipped for $900, why should I pay more to buy it from you?

Or maybe your willing to fly and drive it back. You get the drift, good luck!

All great advice and information. Good luck in your search. Oh and the BOSS Mustang comes stock with Recaros.

Unfortunately, the Boss does not come "stock" with the Recaros. The Recaro seats and the Torsen rear end are a option. You can get a Boss with regular GT cloth seats and embroidered Boss 302 on them. Just passing along the info. The only other option for the Boss is the floor mats with a car cover.

Yep, sorry. I got confused a little as for 2012 you could only get Recaros on either the BOSS or the GT500 and not till 2013 on the regular GT.

44k is a decent starting point, you can start negotiating and offer 42k and take it from there. How much do you want a Boss Mustang? You are paying a premium over a track pack optioned GT, so what's it worth to you? Dealers up here in the north east all wanted 5-10k over MSRP, so I felt that I did OK paying MSRP.

It's a great car, and assuming you haven't been able to test drive one, it's nothing like a GT, even with the track pack. Once you put in an MGW and upgrade the mufflers, you have something you can keep for 10+ years and enjoy every minute.

I have yet to hear from a disappointed Boss owner that didn't love it.

IMO Spend the extra 10-15K and get a Shelby! Unless your heart is dead set on the Boss.

You won't be disappointed with the Shelby!

In my experience the best deal I've ever heard of on a 2013 Boss was about $500 under MSRP. That being said I paid MSRP for mine and traveled to Los Angeles to pick it up. It's going to be somewhat difficult to get a "great" deal on the Boss...but if you can get anything under MSRP I'd say you're doing well.

I've seen new BOSS 302's discounted as much as $5K, but you have to search around.

Look on cars.com and see what you can find, even if you have to travel to get it.

Check Mac Haik ford in Georgetown Texas. They have a 2012 Boss 302 red/white with 14,608 miles on it for under $40,000 ($37,988). I almost bought it myself but went with the 2014 5.0. Here is the link....
