I know its not a popular viewpoint, however, the current V-6 is pretty much everything the outgoing 2005-2009 GT was (I know its not a V-8, still it should perform as well or close enough that there is no notable difference) and it should come it at around that $26,000 mark.
Pricing a new GT with the same options as my current 2006 (well as close as possible), the price difference is exactly $4,986. For that extra $5000 the new GT has leather (mine is a standard and I actually prefer the cloth seats), a much improved interior, a much much improved suspension and the new 5.0 engine, which seems, at least to me, to be about what would have been paid back in 2006 if all these thing had been offered as options and each had been selected.
I guess what I am getting at is that simply looking at the price differences between years may make it seem that there is a huge price increase, however when taking into acct the improvements, Ford seems to have done a pretty good job of holding the line on what they are providing for what they are charging.
Oh and on a side note: I am really dissapointed that the brembo option is not available with the automatic, though not being able to get it will save quite a bit it would still be nice to have it as one of the few additions to the base premium.

Okay, removed the rearview camera, and got the price down to $39,640. cars.com is showing the invoice at $36,289. I wonder if I can negotiate a price under $38K, that would be good.

Well, I have a wheel choice. Late Model Restoration says that their 18" SVE wheels will clear the Brembos. http://www.mylrs.com/blogs/lrs/archi...-test-car.aspx
