Broken transmission crossmember

Haven't been on here in a minute (forever)
Asking if anyone has come across a crossmember that has broken like this before

I don't need to know why it happened because well it is what it is.
Just curious if it's been seen before.

I would be looking at the Motor mounts at the same time with that broke like that
Mount took the whole piece out Lee, the other side is cracked around the mount stud also

Thanks Ken, I see it now. I agree with a motor mount, should not be that much twist there to do that. Unless maybe really high hp launching on slicks, and that's a stretch unless something else let go too.

Car is a 160k mile daily driver, been to the track once with maybe 3 passes on it.
It's never launched hard because it's a daily, also still has the original clutch.
There are signs of corrosion in the few pieces that I managed to pull out. Water probably sits in the channel the trans mount is bolted to because there's no drain holes. Thinking it was only a matter of time before it weakened enough to break.

Make sure motor mounts are good. Excessive motor twisting over time could cause stress on those trans mounting points.

Wow that is a nasty bolt hole blow-out. The other one is on it way to the same. I have not seen anything like it. Almost looks like bigger road debris may have hit it a some point. Or just cheap Chinese pot metal under stress.

2012 mustang V6 manual transmission - started hearing a horrible metal on metal screech - it was the transmission crossmember. It just fell apart around the bolt holes. Parts and labor 240$ and back on the road. Good for another 100k miles

@Franck87

Hello, I am having the same problem as you on a 2011 V6 3.7. Could you tell me your engine because on my crossbar there is no reference and I could use yours. I'm in France and for the moment I can't find the part. I'm desperate.

Yes, I had this too. It didn't break through before I caught it, but it looked to me like galvanic corrosion. The crossmember is aluminum, but the bottom part of the isolator that bolts to the back of the transmission is steel. Water / salty road spray works its way in between the two and starts expanding, building pressure and pulling the isolator stud/nut through the crossmember. Mine had lots of white crud built up between the two. I even put a straight edge on the bottom of the old isolator, it was bowed in.

I replaced the isolator as well and sprayed a thin amount of rubber undercoating under the isolator in the hopes it would delay the next round of corrosion.
