I did my first oil change at 2300 miles and now use Mobil 1 extended performance fully synthetic , 5W 30 blend.

^ My "oil life" indicator wanted to do it at ~2100 miles. Seemed low to me, no way I'd have done it earlier than that. ('13 V6)

Oil life monitor must not have been set correctly or wasn't reset from the previous oil change

I was thinking the same thing because the oil life monitor has to be set manually every time after one changes the oil.

Correct. At least we can do it without requiring a 200 dollar tool like my wifes BMW.
