Boss 302 Clutch petal issue

I have had an issue the last couple of times driving the car hard. I have been trying to get my 0-60 times down and the last couple of times the clutch pedal didn't return all the way back up to the top. It would still shift but the pedal was stuck halfway down. I was able to pull up back up with my foot and it has been working fine. Very strange that it would get stuck halfway down. It has only done that when hitting it hard to redline in 1st and 2nd gear. Anyone have an idea what is wrong?
Thanks,
Jon

Are you still running the stock clutch assist spring? If so, take it out and see if the clutch disengages properly at high rpm.

The pedal feel is heavier without the assist spring. Some have left the spring out and others have gone with a lighter spring to get a pedal effort somewhere between the stock spring and no spring. I have a bad left knee so I run the Steeda spring. It is about $20 and gives a better feel than stock without sticking, but is somewhat lighter than no spring. Did you get the spring out without breaking the guide rod on the spring perch?

Yes the perch is intact. I clamped the spring with small vice grips and ended up using a small screwdriver to get a little leverage to push the rod out of the perch. The pedal is much stiffer that it was. There is no sticking with the Steeda spring?

yep, that's the idea anyway . . . pretty sure it is confirmed by experience of other people on this board (and other boards)

Yeah I did the same thing removing mine, but it still came flying out and broke the guide rod. I have been running with the broken perch for probably two years since no one made a replacement until recently. I have the new perch, but it has been too cold to go down in the garage to put it in. The broken guide rod causes the spring to bow out when the clutch is depressed. It looks like it is going to come out, but hasn't yet. There is no sticking with the Steeda spring. If I remember correctly it is rated at 95 lbs/inch while the stock spring is 200 lbs/inch. The Steeda spring gives some assist, but not enough to allow the pedal to stick down at high rpms. If you are happy with the pedal effort without the spring, just leave it out. If it is too heavy try the Steeda spring. It is just a matter of preference. I have a bad left knee and didn't like the pedal effort required with no spring.
