Borla Touring vs GT500 axle back

So I've decided to buy an exhaust for my 2011 GT.

I absolutely love the sound of the Roush axle back and I'm also a fan of the Borla S-Type, but I've heard that volume wise, they are both quite loud (one person said the Roush is almost as loud as a muffler delete).

I want something that is considerably louder than stock, but don't want something so loud that people will hear my car before they even see it. I have a feeling the Ford Racing Touring mufflers and the Borla Touring mufflers are good, but the only video I've seen is the one from Borla and it didn't seem much louder than stock.

I have seen a couple videos of the Ford Racing GT500 axle back for the 5.0 and it seems much louder than stock without being obnoxious. I am leaning toward getting it but wanted the advice of those on the forum before pulling the trigger. What are your thoughts?

I'd also look at the Corsa Sport axle-backs if you're looking at Borla. Of the bunch, I'd go GT500 personally.

I considered both the Touring and S-Type axlebacks and went with the S-Type. I was concerned that the Touring wouldn't be enough of a difference over stock. The S-Type can be loud, but it's not obnoxious IMO. My car was at the dealership today for an oil change and the mechanics loved the sound.
If you would like to hear what the S-Type sounds like before completing your decision and laying out the cash, you're welcome to take a drive to Niagara and I'll be happy to show you.
Sound bytes on the internet don't do any exhaust justice and only complicate the selection process.

I went with the GT500 mostly due to price and being skiddish about the Roush loudness. I LOVE the way the GT500's look (totally 100% stock, except for the really agressive 4" tips, which look PERFECT ). I also liked they way they fit (like a glove, 100% OEM/stock, come with new clamps).

What I personally wanted was for them to be louder in idle/parking lot situations. You know, more like the stock 2010 4.6 GT sounds. The GT500's sound much closer to 2011 GT stock, so not much difference there. But when you accelerate, they "open up" and sound really throaty. Still not obnoxiously loud, but it's a significant step up from stock. No drone at all.

After driving around with the GT500 setup, and then re-listening to the exhaust videos, I think the GT500 axle-back sounds remarkably like the Borla Touring, at least judging by the video.

Thanks to everyone for all the feedback, it's all very helpful!

Magnatic, I would LOVE to come hear your Borla S-Types in person. My wife and I could make it a day trip. Will you be around this Saturday? If that works for you, could you PM me with your phone number so I can call and make the arrangements with you?

I'm a little confused about the GT500 mufflers -- there are two different kinds, right -- the basic GT500 and the GT500 KR?

I think the basic GT500 is what you guys are talking about, it has the rectangular mufflers that are about the same shape as the stock mufflers.

The KR's are a straight-through design with round cross-section, right? Also they cost a lot more -- like $500 or so versus a little under $300.

So, if I've got this right -- are the KR's louder than the "regular" GT500's?

They are 2011 GT500 mufflers specifically found on the 2011 model. They are not KR mufflers found on the 08-09 GT500 KR.
