Borla S-Type Axlebacks and Borla X-pipe
I just got my s-type axlebacks and I'll also be looking to pick up the borla x-pipe to go along with it. I just have a few questions about the exhaust...
1. By installing the borla x-pipe will I be voiding the warranty I have on my car? Does it mess with the cats??
2. By adding the xpipe how much of a different sound will I get with it? Does anyone have this exact setup on there car??
I'm just a little confused on this any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

2) Compared to an S-Type axleback only, Borla's X-pipe seems to produce a deeper, cleaner sound, albeit with a bit more "rasp," IMO.
Here are a couple videos showcasing Borla's X-pipe / S-Type catback combo:

Thanks man, you answered all my questions. I think I'm going to pull the trigger and get the x-pipe with the s-type axle backs, I was just worried it would mess with cats. I'll post a video as soon as I get them installed in the spring..... I can't wait to hear this beast!!!

Hey I'm thinking of the same set up. Borla-S axleback with an xpipe.
Has anyone heard the Borla-s axleback with an off road (catless) x or h pipe?

Exhaust will not void your warranty unless you remove the catalytic converters. And even then it would only void warranty regarding your exhaust not the drivetrain or anything else. A dealer would have to prove that changing the exhaust caused whatever issue you have.
As far as the X pipe, I personally don't like the sound. It does add a raspy noise to the exhaust IMO.

Here in CA, I believe it's nearly $2,500 if you are caught running a car on the street without one.
Basically, you could run a red light while going 3x over the speed limit here in CA...and your fine would be less than half of what you would pay if you are caught driving without cats.

I Have No Life
My example isn't on the same engine or anything, but I have Borla Stingers (S-Type) and a FRPP x-pipe.
I compared it to a car (again 4.6, so not quite the same) with just a stock H-pipe and Borla's...the sound seemed to smooth out the sound, add a bit of volume.
Revving, it did sound raspier...but I love it.
Great combo.
I can imagine what it'll sound like on the 5L...gravy!

Aaaarg still going back and forth between the Borla S axleback and catback. Can't decide. I'd like to run an offroad (catless ) xpipe too. I do not want drone.
The price difference is quite a bit.
Right now I'm leaning toward the axlebacks with an offroad x pipe.
Thoughts?

True. Most shops around here have signs that read "we will not remove cats". If a shop gets caught removing them, it's a $10,000+ fine.

Is there any way to get long tube headers for the GT? I know that they make shorty x pipes with cats, but what use would they be if you have to use the stock cats? Could the stock cats just be moved or adjusted to make fit with long tube headers, or would I be stuck having to get shorty headers? I do not live in California, so that helps, but I have to have a street legal exhast as I do not want to be stopped here in AZ or in CA when there on business.
