Borla exhaust installation question

So I wanted to install my Borla exhaust. The stock mufflers came off fairly easily. However, installing the Borla exhaust poses a problem. I can't get the back hanger into the rubber grommet. The tip is pointed downward (away from the grommet), which makes it impossible to get into the grommet.

I tried to get the whole rubber grommet off - no success. Any tips?

Did you loosen the panhard bar brace on the one side? That makes things a lot easier.

Getting the exhaust on was not really a problem. Where I was stuck was getting the back hanger into the rear grommet. Not wasting any more time I just removed the whole hanger, pulled off the rubber grommet, put the hanger back on, and then put the rubber grommet on the muffler hanger first and then onto the hanger on the car. Now I just need to get it all the way back onto the car. These rubber grommet are such a pain in the butt.

I had to unbolt the hangers to get mine on.

Do you mean rear as in tip side or clamp side? If it's the tip side grommet, just spray some WD-40 on the exhaust hanger, and it should slide in. I hung mine first, then oriented the pipe and secured the clamp. It's been fine since.

Thanks for your help. In hindsight I think it is impossible to get the rear hanger (closest to the tips) into the rubber grommets without taking off the whole rubber grommet or the whole hanger that is mounted to the body.

I finally got it all done. Let's hope it all stays connected...

You don't need to unbolt it to get it there. Hang that one first, then slide the two forward hangers in position, then attach the clamp.

That might have worked. I wasn't sure if it would travel enough in order to slide in the two forward hangers.
