Is that ridiculous? The GT grille surround is just easily painted black plastic, right? It's not painted black...so why the absurd charge?

P&B work isn't cheap.

And you don't just shoot paint on a plastic part, not if you want it to last. Lots of prep work goes into paiting it.

Plus, it costs more to have one small piece done because they still have to mix up a quantity of paint.

It's not as simple, however, $275 is a lot. I got the new pedestal spoiler for my wife's pony painted for just $135. However, it was done at the dealership where I bought the car, so they gave me a break on the parts and paintwork, more equivalent to employee pricing, and I did install myself.

Plus they have to take it out of the car (and re-install) which is a PITA...

Buy some color matched spray and do it yourself if that's too much for you..

I think red candy metallic cost more. From your avatar that looks like the color you have. I would just call around first and see if you can find a better deal.

Not too hard really, it's about 30 minutes and a couple of hand tools

Just for the color (Grabber Blue) to do my Grille surround and pedestal spoiler was $52, not counting the clear, adhesion promoter, flex agent, primer, reducer, sand paper and of course time to do it all.
And if yours is Red Candy the Color and the Clear will be more than the Grabber Blue.
