Are Blizzak tires worth the investment?

Last winter I drove around on the stock Pirelli's on the 18" rims and I never even put weight in the trunk and it was ok to drive.

But if I were to go with Blizzaks this year and some weight in the trunk will there be a noticeable difference to warrant spending the money on the tires?

Just curious if anyone has used them and what their experience was.

Thanks,
Griff

Absolutely. You go from a "jack of all trades, master of none" tire to a specific, extremely capable tire for all weather below 45*. It's the opposite end of the spectrum to a sticky summer tire. If you plan on driving in the winter, I'd suggest getting a set.

I just go much slower on my pirelli's, I can't spend a few hundred bucks on a winter tire set. but I hear they are a great winter tire.

Don't waste your money-buy them! They are the best winter tire you can buy. Don't put a price on your safety. Buy the best tires you can afford, and perhaps in this case, can't afford not to buy them. It's too late once you've had an accident to regret not putting them on your car. My Michelin X-Ice tires are coming off this year and am installing a new set of Bridgestone Blizzaks because I want the best for safety. All it takes is one storm/situation and you'll quickly realize how good the Blizzaks are. If you think safety is too expensive, try an accident!
There. Did I convince you or not? And no, I don't work for Bridgestone. But I do advocate safety at all times-for your own sake and others.

Buy the Blizzaks, you will not regret it. You cannot buy a better winter tire. The
Mustang doesn't go out in snow, but I drove Turbo Buicks for 15+ yrs and the Blizzaks were outstanding in snow and ice. They are worth every penny.

Definitely get a set. I drive Michelin Xice Xi2s and they are a really great tire- Awesome traction in wet/slushy, stable in deep driving conditions ~6"+ or so, strong traction on ice, and quiet and good performer when it's dry. I daily drive mine and have done 2 winters in them, this will be my 3rd

the Blizzaks are just as worthy. So check out some reviews.

Being from the land where even in sub-freezing temps (true story) it still rains I am honestly wondering how bad is the snow in Illinois?

its mostly cold with a few snow storms a year. Most of the time roads are cleared pretty quickly. Its only been bad enough once in the past few years where I didn't leave the house. If you have the spare cash where you can have a spare set of winter tires with wheels I say go for it. If not just be carefull and watch out for the other guy.

I live in Kansas City where the snowfall isn't huge but we do get some snow and a lot of ice storms. I probably could survive relying on the stock all-seasons and the TCS/AdvanceTrac, but why? I bought Blizzaks that I'll be putting on in the next week or two and I anticipate winter driving to be much less stressful and worrying than it would have been with all-seasons.

had them on my focus in northern jersey. No issues what-so-ever, even with a good amount of snow. In fact, i used to HOPE for bad storms to get out and have some fun with the car in the snow. Granted, that was a fwd 4-banger. But im sure you wont be dissapointed.

I bought the Blizzaks with the 18" SVT wheels, from Tire Rack, last year and used them all winter out here in "fly over" country. Several snow storms with deep snow and of course ice. They performed great, especially in the deeper snow where the P-Zero A/S just did not have grip.

I just purchased another set for my wifes' 2009 Passat wagon, mounted separately on VW wheels. Always do all four if you are going with a pure winter tire.

Absolutely true. I'm going on my third set with no regrets whatsoever. In fact, they will be the only winter I'll ever put on my car from now on.
