Blind Spot Mirror....What am I doing wrong?
I have my mirrors set like always and I don't see how these blind spot mirrors are supposed to work. Everything I see in them are way outside of where my blindspot is.
Someone school me on this.

Oddly enough my mirrors were already perfectly set the first time I took my car for a spin. I'm loving them, and it boggles my mind why these aren't a standard on all modern cars. The blindspot mirror does give you a wider angle than just the blind spot, and I can actually see about two lanes worth beside me. Once you get used to them you'll appreciate them a lot more.

I've had those little 1.5" stick-on "dot" mirrors on my SHO for a long time, and they might look a little cheesy, but they really do work. When glancing over at my driver's side mirror, with the mirror in enough that I can see the side of the car, the dot mirror completely gaps (and overlaps) the area between the outer edge of my normal mirror and my peripheral vision.
This means as a car overtakes me on the left, I can see it in my mirror, the mirror/dot mirror, then dot mirror, then dot mirror/eyesight, then it's basically in front of me already. I have 0 blind spot, and the 15" rear view mirror helps things out a lot as well! I never have to look behind me or over my shoulder to do lane changes which is a lot safer, because time spent looking behind you is time spent not looking in front of you.
I haven't had a chance to drive the '11 yet (or even see it in person ) but I would imagine those mirrors would accomplish basically the same thing. Yeah, it's a little weird to get used to, but they work oh so well.

I think it's cool that these new models have these integrated mirrors, however I'm curious as to whether they are even really necessary. I have used the technique below for setting mirrors ever since I started driving as a teen, and I've never had a problem with blind spots. Just my take.

This technique works well.

To each their own. Personally, I set my mirror so it just "barely" sees the side of the car, and I recommend anyone that regularly parks in large lots to do the same. It just acts as a "double check" that your mirrors are set properly.
Too many times I've returned to a parking lot to discover that someone "bumped" the mirror knocking it out of line and looking outwards instead of behind you, missing the blind spot completely. At night this can be very dangerous if you don't realize it before entering a highway. Even when the mirror just barely catches the side you can still usually see a lane and a half beside you,
