Black Gt review

Black GT|NAV|PERFORMANCE PACKAGE| SECURITY PACKAGE|GLASS ROOF|3.73|

Ordered 4/23 build 5 /18/ delevered 6/24

OK 3 days and counting.............
Day 1-Little rusty on the stick. Although I have driven sticks all my life including the "windsor"" Mustangs, and heavy equipment. But not a lot recently. Wow I was bad. Never missed a shift or stalled. Clutch is so light and tranny is not forgiving. Easy to go from 5th to 2nd when you wanted to hit 4th. Figured that out pretty fast. Also I was not that aggressive. Actually did not feel good and was disapointed
Day 2-Started off the day same as day one. However picked up a friend who has a Porche. Let him drive. Holly crap he synced right in this car to make it go had to be spin up. Leaned a lot. Drove around a lot that day. Got used to the clutch and tranny. I live north so have lots of rural roads. Me and and roomate took her out for a couple of hours last night. Ok got it figured out. Got her over 100MPh in 4th gear. Gotta be carefull here on the speeds. Over 50 KMH and you are considered racing and huge fines a 10 day impound.
3rd day-Rained untill this evening. Black so left her in the garage. Rain stopped. Roads dried. Took her for another spin north Rural roads. Now used to the clutch and tranny. No issues.
Overall review-Man this car goes!! But gotta wind her up. Being a old guy with North American rides not used to that. Clutch incredably light. Tranny incredably short. Fit and finish is fantastic. Also this a amazng looking car.
Having some issues with the Nav/Sync but sure I will figure it out
Wanted a 5.0 since my last in 1985 (great car) I was 23 then. Paid 11 grand for it. Which was a lot back then. Now close to 50 and I am in heaven.

I think that's why some people have found this new engine wanting. They're used to the days when muscle cars had big block engines that pulled like a freight train at 3000 rpm, ran out of steam by 4000, and hit redline at 5000. This new engine has a 7000 redline and makes power all the way up to about 6700, yet I think some people drive it like they are used to driving the old '71. Shifting at 3500 rpm leaves a whole lot on the table.

You have "Performance Package" listed as one of the options, do you mean Brembo brake package?

He's a Canuck. For some reason they call it "GT Brake Performance Package" on the Canadian cars.

Same stuff though.

Yes I a am a Canuck. Drinking a Molson Canadian as I type this and cooking some Back Bacon eh.

Yes the Performance Package comes with the Brembo's, 19" wheels and summer tires, strut brace and the Enhanced Stability Control (with the sport mode-I think)

Drives Like Bimmers, Porsches, and Infinitis

I think the comments from the folks above are right. I never owned an American car until I bought the 2011 GT with 6-speed manual. I've owned Infiniti G35s and have driven quite a few BMWs and Porsches. When I got into the 2011 Mustang, it shifted and ran just like those cars, with power pouring on all the way to the rev limiter (which I accidentally ran up against once). I had no shift issues with the 6-speed. I almost think folks going from older Mustangs to the 2011 will have more difficulty than folks coming from late model European cars in this regard.

Once you learn to drive it like the European cars, though, it's faster than a whole bunch of them.

also. It's difficult to rap this motor out around town. To get that "fun" feeling you do have to spin it past 4k, which gets the car going way too fast for in town driving. The old motors would throw you back going from stop light to stop light without having to do 60mph. Just different beasts that's all. I've never had a 2011 on the highway since I've only done test drives around town. That's got to be a blast.

This is why I fear getting an automatic, that it wont rev high enough to trigger the butt-dyno. For certain reasons I am forced to go auto

Any auto 5.0 impressions?

Black GT

One week tomorrow and counting. No mechincal issues. 500km on her so far.

Having issue with the Nav/Sync with my Ipod. (another thread) but all is OK

Have got used to the clutch and tranny. Have not gone over 5500 RPM yet. But getting there is incredible. Push you back in your seat power!!

Plus you can pass slow pokes in instint. I live near rural roads so been cruising them.

One note-Gas miliage is crappy. So far. With the 3.73. Need to learn to shift sooner. However car feels like it is lugging below 2200 RPM. Probably just me. I don't "punch her" till she is in third. First is so low, getting used to starting off in second.

Overall, this is a great car, looks good and all my friends I have taken for a drive are in awe.

Have not hit rain yet, parked in the garage when it did. But being Black she was very dirty. Gave her first bath tonight. Looked great. Did not know she was so dirty. Not being hard on the brakes (I have Brembo''s_ but lots of break dust.
