I too have the kooks. Great bargain tire. I have 255 in the front 285 in the rear by 19". Not as good as my stock pirelli's, but at less than half the price. I love them!

I felt my Perillis had a little more grip. Not enough to justify double the price of the Kooks

Summer or all season? (Summers are said to be unsafe in cold temps...turn to stones and offer little traction).

Budget and expected longetivity? (generally all seasons are more affordable and can last 2-3+ times as long. Note also that prices of both wheels and tires generally increase with wheel diameter, usually fairly significantly).

I can second some of what's been recommended here so far.

From what I read, the Continental Extreeme Contact DW is an excellent summer tire for the price and are presently what I've decided to order for my summer set of wheels (not yet purchased, either...thinking TSW Nurburgrings in gunmetal w/polished face...if the 18's will fit over a potential big brake upgrade, they'll likely be the size I go with).

For all seasons, I purchased the PZero Nero in a 275 from the Tire Rack to put on a pair of 18" OE like 5 spoke silver from American Muscle and in fact had them before my car was delivered. That tire's not made any longer in that size and when I went to get a 2nd set (fronts still have a lot of tread, rears are getting real close...imagine that), I went with that size in a Michellin Pilot Sport. Not yet mounted, but very good reviews.

I've rarely found better prices than at the tire rack and have ordered numerous sets from them for various vehicles over the years.

I looked at those conti's pretty hard and was going to order but they didn't have the tire sizes I want to go with. I will have to say about the hankooks is I didn't drive to much in the rain, I see the op is from the west coast so I figure he would be looking for a summer tire, but as stated above a all season tire will last longer and probably have a better warrany. Good point.

discounttiredirect.com they deliver to your door and will match or beat anyone. Your local discount tire store will match dicounttiredirect as well as anyone else. Customer service is pretty awesome also. The tire rack needs to open more stores the closet one to my house is over 50 miles.

Same setup with some Bridgestone Potenzas drives straight, so I've narrowed it down to the tire. This is on a Mitsubishi but a tire is a tire.
Thanks for the info...Lou

I just put the Continental DWS on my Jetta and I really like them. Much better grip than the Conti Contacts mounted previously. I'm still only 4.5k through the stock PZeros on the Brembo Pkg, and I think I may be leaning towards the Conti DW based on price.

Excellent choice. I'll be eyeing a set to possibly be the future replacements for the P-Zero summer tires. The P-Zero has exceptional grip... and I would want equal or better performance out of a new set. PS2's will fit the bill!

So I just got my wheels and tires installed. When I called the guy I work with mentioned another mustang owner was interested in purchasing my old gt/cs wheels and tires. He offered the guy $500 for all 4. Is that a fair price? I haven't even begun to look what their worth, I haven't even received the car yet.

I'm ordered Continental ExtremeContact DW tires from performancetread.com for my staggered Boss Laguna Seca wheels. No experience yet, but most magazine and website articles, rated them along the lines of the Michelin's.

I will know starting monday.

Are 275/35/19's too wide for the OEM brembo wheels??? I'd like to switch to those.

For those of you who DO have the 275's, any issues with rocks/debris flinging to the sides of the car??? That would royally suck for me.

Those will fit and are what I would run. As for rocks etc with the brembo wheels it won't be add bad as it is with rtr or others with a more aggressive offset. I'd recommend the gt500 splash guards in the rear for just a bit of added protection ...

I when with Hankooks v12 on my Brembo car. If you our looking for a low cost summer tire i think there hard to beat for the price . I when with the stock P255-40 19" up front and P275-40 19" in the back if i were to do it again i think i go P275-40 19 " all the way around .

Before I got the wheels installed they asked if I had the brembo pkg. Apparently they wouldn't fit if I did. What's the best way to find out if some after market brake kits will fit my wheels now? Because I plan on supercharger and I believe bigger brakes are in order for that.

I bought Falken 912's a few years ago for my last car. They were good for the price but i had to run 38-40 psi in them because the sidewalls were too soft. After reading tire reviews for months i think i'll use the factory all season Pirelli's (18 inch) that came on my V-6 when i need new tires.

I have the Hankook Ventus V12s on my Brembo wheels, and I love them. Awesome street tire. Very quiet, and the grip is pretty impressive. I'm sure they don't have as much grip as the Pirelli Pzeros - but they shouldn't, given the Pirellis are more than double the price! Though honestly, I think with the wider tires (I went 275/35/19 vs. 255 stock), I feel like I have more grip now than I did with the 255 Pirellis.

If you are looking for value... I can vouch for the Hankooks. When I got mine, Ford dealerships were offering $100 off four tires if you purchased and installed from them, and Hankook was offering an $80 rebate off 4 Ventus v12s. I managed to combine the deals, and got a set of four at quite a steal.
