The actual test drive began at the Marina Del Ray near Los Angeles then up Pacific Coast Hwy to Port Hueneme for the autocross then through canyon after canyon back to Marina del Rey for lunch then back up Pac Coast Hwy to Malibu Canyon Rd, to Cold Canyon Rd, Mulholland Hwy, Topanga Canyon then back down CA-1 to Marina del Ray. The course was chosen to give us a chance to see how these new engines/transmissions/brakes/suspensions worked together to create a unique driving experience.

Looks like you've been down that road before Chris.
it is indeed a beautiful ride in the Green Mountains (VT) and the Adhirondacs ( N-Y). I bicycled ( yes, bicycle with two pedals) in these mountains as well as all of New-England numerous times. The back roads are just amazing, scenery is breathless. I've also done ( bicycled) Chicago-New-Orleans and all of the East Coast, but my friends that is another story.

Hill country/Piney woods is definitely NOT flat and long straights... .

Highway 129 in N. GA is a good drive, Desoto Falls to the top of Blood MTN. Video isn't that great but you can see the layout of the road....

I'm throwing my vote in for the outerloop of the DC beltway at the 270 spur. Lovely, scenic, and it seems like the road goes on forever (because you never move).
Hey vettdreamin, I'm a MD guy looking for a good cruising spot outside of the hellhole of traffic that is the DC beltway. Anyplace around here good for a weekend drive?

For short drives:
Try Georgetown Pike from the beltway to Great Falls (and then enjoy Great Falls, VA for an hour or so)
Try Snickersville Pike (not kidding) off Rt. 7 to Rt. 50
Try GW Parkway from Mt. Vernon to Old Town Alexandria
A little farther, definitely try Rt. 211 between Sperryville and Luray (and stop for a drive on Skyline Drive along the way -- southbound you'll find Skyland (highest point in the Shenandoah Valley) and Big Meadow). Frequent deer and occasional bear sightings along the way. Rt. 522 between Front Royal and Sperryville is also quite good.
Take I-66 to exit 13 and head West on Rt. 55 to Front Royal and then 340 to the Skyline Drive entrance. Take that down to Rt. 211 and head back to Sperryville to 522 then back to Front Royal again for a nice circuit.
