Battery Warranty?

Know this is a question for Ford Service but do any of you know if the battery is included as a replacable item under the original warranty or is it pro-rated.
I have a month left on the original warranty and it is stone dead.
Thanks!

Wonder if it is warrantied for 3 years from manufacture or purchase.
Build date was may 2010
Purchase date was March 2011

Should be from date of purchase on the 3/36 warranty.

I don't know for sure, but your best beat is the owners manual warranty explanation. Tis your friend in these type situations.

Hi Banjostang,

The original battery is covered under the new-vehicle limited warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles, which starts from the warranty start date or date the vehicle was first put into use. Once replaced, your dealer will advise on which warranty your new battery will carry.

Your service manager is in the best position to ensure a proper diagnosis, and will be able to provide available options and/or coverage for any work needed. You can schedule an appointment online here.

Is it quite cold where you are? Do you sometimes not drive your car for 10 days or so?

If the answer to both those is yes and they occur at the same time, like it is for me sometimes, then your battery will "die". It is totally necessary to keep these batteries on a trickle charger if not driving for extended periods (or disconnect it if you accept the consequences). It's not like the old days where cars drew zero current when they were turned off.

Luckily, if you catch it soon enough, there aren't really any nuisance results IIRC (like lost settings, even on your "radio" lol).

My car has sat for 2 weeks every month since it rolled off the Dealer lot new. Never hooked a charger to it and it starts every time.

^ How cold is it in Southern Alabama? And what's your definition of cold? You did notice I said cold ? Check out how quickly batteries lose power in the cold compared to not cold, no comparison.

It's been from the low teens to the mid twenties at night for the last two weeks. That's cold to me.

Just because it starts every time does not mean the battery has a full charge. A full charge is 12.6 volts or above.
FYI to all, Even brand new batteries will lose charge when sitting on the shelf. A battery can lose as much as 25% of it's charge when sitting for 3 months on a shelf. Imagine how much it will lose when in a car ?

Wow, didn't think that this thread would get any attention.

Unfortunately I had to buy a battery that evening so I could get to work.

I was able to the car off during lunch to have them check out the electrical system. When I went to pick it up they didn't bring up that they could have replaced the battery under warranty. They did BS me when I picked it up saying that the battery I bought was crap and had a bad cell. I had it checked out independently and the battery was fine (pushing more CCA that it's rated power). Wonder if they were trying to get me to buy a battery from them.

Oh, well... I'm out $140, but the car starts

Nope. I'm in warm Augusta GA and the car is garage-kept and driven to work every day and on the weekends.
